| EXPERT RATING: From AMG Reviews As an overview of Sergio Mendes in both of his AM periods, the 1987-vintage CD Classics, Vol. 18 is a far more useful collection than the older Greatest Hits. Classics includes ten out of the 12 selections on Greatest Hits, replacing "Day Tripper" and "Night and Day" with "One Note Samba/Spanish Flea," "Bim Bom," and "Song of No Regrets" (a more than fair trade), adding two more from the Brasil '77 albums, and jumping to the 1980s with two chart-making hits. Of course, this collection leaves a large gap between 1972 and 1983, during which Mendes recorded for other labels. Nevertheless, as a result, you get a better representation of the great Brasil '66 records and some tastes of things that have happened since. - Richard S. Ginell, All Music Guide |

Sergio Mendes is indeed one of the finest artist and song writer of the mid 60's up til the early 90's...I've been collecting classic music like Carlos Santana, and some more hard to find classic music.Sergio's music are really trademarks and contributed a lot to the music industry...doesn't everyone knows or familiar with the song 'MASQUENADA'? some of the big hits from Sergio, and of course discovering some of the rare talents like LANI HALL and HERB ALPERT. If you're a music lover, I recommend you to pick up a CD of Sergio and just try listening...and then you would know! ...
