| EXPERT RATING: From AMG Reviews Classic Soul, Volume 1 is a collection of previously issued tracks from soul/blues singer Willie Clayton. Nothing here will disappoint, for Clayton's smoke and whiskeytinged tenor is a throw back to the days when R B meant deep, deep soul. Woefully under appreciated, Clayton should appeal to fans of Al Green, the singer he most resembles. He tackles a Green tune here, "Simply Beautiful," and it is a spot on version that would pass a blindfold test. Highlights include the opening track, "I Love Stealin' It," but don't stop there. Once again, Willie was off da hook!.. Classic Soul 1 contained a mixture of old and new, slow and fast, and down right great music. Loving Each Other For Life and Love is Something Beautiful were my favorites. I have a huge collection of Willie's music. I travel a lot and whenever I have a long road trip ahead of me, I pop in a Willie Clayton CD and drive. Before I know it, I am at my destination. God and Willie have taken me safely through many of miles on the highway. Willie Clayton, 'I Love Me Some You' ...
