    Almost forgotten hits and rarities

    What a breath of fresh air for these classics to come back on CD. There isn't any particularly upstanding cut, though I am VERY pleased to see Leon Everett's "Hurricane" from 1981 on here - that's NOWHERE else.

    Classic Country, Vol. 1 is an appealing budget-priced collection spotlighting 19 Nashville hits from the late '70s and early '80s, more than a few of which crossed over to mainstream pop success as well. Highlights include Waylon Jennings' elegiac "Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love)," Dolly Parton's "Here You Come Again," Jerry Reed's "She Got the Goldmine (I Got the Shaft)" and Waylon Willie's "Good Hearted Woman."
