There is very little action in the novel...but the story is still suspenseful and exciting. The gradual unfolding of plots and counterplots, false steps and clever ploys, is completely enthralling. Although I often lament authors who confine themselves to a single series, Bujold has managed to write very different books with overlapping characters, and as long as she continues to explore the Barrayar universe in such skillful fashion, I plan to accompany her on the ride.
