Medeski, Martin and Wood bassist Chris Wood studied composition, and jazz and classical bass in his hometown Boulder, Colorado. In 1989, he went to the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, and studied with Dave Holland, Geri Allen and Bob Moses, but soon changed his enrollment to part-time in order to play with Moses.
