As a member of an elite international special forces team, you are responsible for ensuring the safety of the world. The time has now come to prove your skills as a chopper pilot A terrorist group known as ~Guren-no-kiba has stolen weapons, abducted American scientists and is now the number one threat to humanity. Recent reports indicate the terrorists plan on building an android soldier, one that would render them unstoppable. Through various mission objectives you must help defeat the ~Guren-no-kiba before they can build such a devastating device.
Before you begin, you'll have the opportunity to practice using your moves and weapons in Free Battle mode. First select one of eight choppers, each rated in speed, armor, vulcan cannons, acceleration and acrobatics. Then decide which armaments your chopper will carry, including air-to-ground missiles, air-to-air missiles, homing missiles, cluster bombs, rockets and homing clusters. In addition, countermeasures can also be purchased to help players avoid incoming missiles. While Free Battle mode initially starts on level one, more battlefields will open up as progress is made through the main story.
Mission mode involves completing multiple objectives on eight different levels, most of which involve destroying key targets or rescuing captives. Weapons have to be purchased, however, and you have a limited amount of fuel to complete your objectives. Players can also destroy enemy facilities to reveal various power-up items (both good and bad).
Once a structure explodes, a large container will float over the rubble, powering-up your chopper after you fly over it. The available power-ups are as follows: white containers (replenish shields), green containers (replenish part of your fuel), blue containers (money), red containers (increase power of vulcan cannons) and black (explosive trap).
Finding your targets is accomplished by using a circular radar, which will help guide you through each mission through a series of colored dots. A green triangle represents your current position, while yellow dots represent ground units (tanks and land vehicles), blue dots represent air units (planes and other aircraft) and red dots mark the position of incoming missiles.
Chopper Attack supports the ~Controller Pak to save level progress as well as the ~Rumble Pak to provide vibration feedback while flying. Players can also choose between two difficulty settings and two control configurations. Take out as many enemy units as possible or they will carry over into the next mission ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide
