    Before Josephine Foster could escape the Windy City for rural life in Portland, she and Andy Bar were whisked away by Minty Fresh to record a few tracks. What resulted was a fine-spun, endearing set of songs for a self-titled EP. The Children's Hour carefully craft a folk-touched, poetic kind of style. Foster's breathy vocals are a nice compliment to Bar's glassy acoustic guitars for a warm-hearted daydream of sorts. The Children's Hour recorded the album at St. Gregory's Church in their native Chicago and such a setting provides an ethereal mystique to the songs themselves. From the country waltz of "The Lumberjack Song" to the charming two-step of "Wyoming," The Children's Hour EP is plain, but beautifully so.
