A native of San Antonio, Texas, Chente Barrera began his music career during the early '90s as a Tejano session staple, lending backing vocals and drums to recordings from artists including Juan Manuel, Laura Canales, Gary Hobbs and Shelly Lares. After touring with Jay Perez and composing material for Bobby Pulido, Parrera made his solo debut in 1998 with the album Puro Taconazo.
