I haven't heard another album since Playa's that has true love, mixed with urban flava and can even provide old school styles that will make you swear they were made in another time and era, yet! Personally I don't think anyone can do it but the members of playa! I am waiting on them to drop something else soon, because One Album just isn't enough! I need more! I have heard them on the EXIT WOUNDS soundtrack so cop that if you miss Playa! ... -

| EXPERT RATING: From AMG Reviews Cheers 2 U is a promsing debut from the Southern hip-hop trio Playa. The trio have been part of Da Bassment, a loose collective of producers and musicians headed by Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliot and Timbaland Magoo. All of the members of Da Bassment are intent on retaining the grit and soul of classic RB, but never lose sight of moving contemporary hip-hop into the future through unexpected samples and unpredictable songwriting. Playa doesn't always carry through on their ambitions on Cheers 2 U, but the failures hardly detract from the blazing success of the moments that work, and in the end, the album is a debut of enormous potential. - Leo Stanley, All Music Guide |
