Alright...some may not like them. In fact, some may HATE them! I am not one of those people. I am a fan. Not one running around with the Nsync t-shirts and arguing over whether Justin or JC is better or hotter (Sure, I have my own opinion but tha...t has no bearing on the review of this CD), but I like them. I have the CD and it is a good listen if you give it a chance. The tracks are a mix of dance-able songs and ballads. Songs like "Selfish" and Something Like You" allow you to get the big ballads that are expected. The music gives the men of the group a fine showcase for their voices in these types of songs. I liked "Gone" because of the simple background music. I don't like that Timberlake is the only one that sings the song. I mean the rest of the guys are there as back-up the whole track! I like Justin, I like his voice and I like his song (he penned it), but there was just not enough of material that the other guys were able to sing! All in all though, the ballads were quite good. I found Chasez's "Selfish" a sweet love song. If you go to a wedding this year, you'll hear it for sure.Songs like "Up Against the Wall" and "Just the Two of Us" are fun dance songs. I especially like the use of "two-step". It makes it more vibrant! And "The Game is Over" has a sample of Pac-Man. As odd as that sounds, it makes for an interesting song. By far, my favorite track on the album is "Girlfriend". It has a simple R & B vibe that makes you want to sing and sway to it. Not boy-band-attempting-to-do
-R&B, but the real deal! The last track on the album is "Do Your Thing". It is different, but I find I can't help but sing along with its positive message. Lots of upbeat dance tracks, some of them quite risky in fact, keep the record far out of the Adult Comtemporary Kingdom the Backstreet Boys have found themselves in (sorry, BSB fans...just my opinion here). A good mix and a wonderful CD. The voices of the men are beautiful. I think JC Chasez has matured as a songwriter and a singer. Check out Euge Groove's CD (an incredible jazz album) if you don't believe me and listen to "Give In To Me" (errrr, mature audience only...it is a little on the sexy side, but hell, IT IS JAZZ). I can't wait to hear more from him. "Celebrity" will keep fans happy (it has kept me happy, at least) and will definitely find the guys a larger audience with its touch of urban and dance flares. To all you non-fans out there, I don't expect to convert you. Your taste in music is your right! I do, however, believe that this album gives the men of Nsync some of the respect that they deserve and because they wrote and produced many of the tracks it is really THEIR album. I think the album deserves a listen before being thrown in the garbage because of the pop label. Hey, they may even surprise you (but you don't have to tell anyone)! To all you fans out there, I think we should have no shame in saying we are Nsync fans (not that we ever have). This record is excellent! And they can take much of the credit for it. So good for them and, of course, even better for us! Read more Less
