Synopsis: Cat People (1982)
Synopis: After Irena (Nastassia Kinski), a young woman with a mysterious past, is reunited with her brother Paul (Malcom MacDowell), a series of bizarre events is set into motion. When Irena discovers that her sexuality is intimately linked with that of her brother's--as well as with a strange human-feline metamorphosis they secretly share--the moment is both frightening and alluring. A remake of the 1942 supernatural horror film of the same name, Paul Schrader's version of CAT PEOPLE is more graphic, more eroticized, and more detailed in content. Shot in New Orleans, an eerie stillness permeates the film, coupled with naturally delivered dialogue that moves the story along. Ruby Dee provides extra mysterious insinuations as Female, the sibling's live-in servant in their French-style mansion, and John Heard is perfectly cast as Oliver, the animal biologist and love interest of Irena.Features: Cat People (1982)

Sleek and chic erotohorror
, July 17, 2001Reviewer: thechang7 - See all thechang7's reviews1 of 2 Yahoo! Users found this Cat People review helpful A young girl is tied to a strange tree in the middle of a desolate landscape and sacrificed to a black panther; a New Orleans townhouse with a dungeon; psychotic Malcom McDowell gracefully leaping to the edge of a bed and perching like a cat; luscious Nastassja Kinski walking naked through a bayou at night, or seducing the camera through the railing of a stairwell; David Bowie singing in cavernous tones against Giorgio Moroder's icy synths; a mysterious backstory involving incest, ancient magic, and sacrificial rites... There are some moments worth the price of admission. This film's imagery isn't nearly as stylized as it could have been, which is a bit of a disappointment for me. ... -

The soundtrack alone will get you....Giorgio Moroder and David Bowie.... (I own it actually)
Nastassja Kinski, Malcolm McDowell and Ruby Dee...beautiful...especially the transformation!
This is a sensuous, dark, thriller designed to keep you on the edge of your seat!
