Pros: It's all good
Cons: None that I could find
This is the latest installment in the Castlevania series.
However, chronologically, this is the first castlevania. The game takes place in the 11th century (pre-Dracula.)
The player takes the role of Leon Belmont, whose wife to be has been kidnapped by a vampire.
After hearing this news from his friend Matthias: Leon renounces his role in the church, which is focusing on fighting heretics, rather then monsters.
Leon heads into the forest, while there, he meets an old alchemist, and is given the whip of alchemy. With the legendary whip in hand: Leon heads into the castle.
This game is fantastic. I rented it four days ago and am barely able to put it down. I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy it, all the reviews I've read about it, make it sound bad.
I thought the game is somewhat different the previous Castlevania games because the game play is straightforward. There are no inverted castles; I didn't find any secret walls or doors. There are a few trick jumps here and there, but that's about all I can recall.
That's part of what makes this game so great. I found it very nostalgic actually. It reminded me of games I used to play a long time ago. (I've been playing video games for over 20 years.)
The graphics are really quite impressive and the soundtrack and voice acting fits nicely. Everything is done in 3D.
One thing I really like about this game is the combat system. The more you fight: the more moves you can gain. You can also earn money, to buy things.
I thought the game was short, but really enjoyable. It takes about 10 hours to complete. There are familiar enemies from previous castlevania games. Like the succubus and medusa.
I don't know what else to say about this game, except that it's bitchinÂ’ Go out and buy it, it's worth it.
I made it to the end, and I sure as hell am. I haven't been this impressed since Metal Gear Solid.
Out of all the games I've played over the years: the castlevania series has been my favorite, this is a must have.
Pros: Great game play and graphics
Cons: Camera angles can be annoying in certain parts of the game
