A Great Movie
Pros: the pros of this movie are that it shows a great deal about human nature and that it reveals the depth of tom hanks dedication to character development.
Cons: i have no cons for this movie, other than i wanted more of it.
i loved tom hanks in this movie. it was suspenseful, dramatic, comedic, and romantic all in one. this movie is perfect for a rainy night.

Buy the widescreen version... this full frame edition chops out information from both the left and right side of the picture.

When I watch thi movie man thi movie was intense and basicly this movie is about surviving and I think it would be a great movie for a gift. I think Tom Hanks and Helen Hunt work really well together just like "Forrest Gump" I hope ou enjoy it

It has been months since I watched this on video- but from others I've seen this is a great Movie! Not a Classic, but one the whole family can watch that will keep your interest!

I really didnt like it, but I love Tom Hankins so I dealt with it. I wouldnt buy it or go to the theater to see it.. But it was ok for a rental. I didnt see the end because I fell asleep. That right there tells me alot!

In Cast Away, Tom Hanks carries the entire movie. Nearly three hours, beautiful scenery. After action packed beginning, Hanks help you live this movie. What would you do if stranded on an island? Emotion packed ending. Beautifully written.

Not the best movie i have every seen before, but it was interesting even when nobody was talking, the island was perfect and u totally felt what he was going through and Tom Hanks did such a wonderful job expressing how he felt!

Great Movie! Tom Hanks turns in an overwhelming wonderful performance. Wish we could have seen more of Helen Hunt. I didn't like the ending. After all he had been through it would have been nice to see him somewhat happy again.

I was looking through the reader reviews of this movie and was surprised to see how many people didnt get it.
Perhaps they did get it, but in todays society theyre not able to enjoy it. When Wendys strives to deliver its food to you in 90 seconds or less, and movies have 30 explosions a minute, it is easy to realize why most people dont get it.
In a time where people are bombarded with sound bites and quick gags (i.e. WASSSSSSSUP) it is easy to comprehend their intolerance of a movie that actually requires you to think, and doesnt try to hide the messages behind explosions or contrived situations.
While I appreciate that the standard American movie always has the hero win the girl, it was a pleasant surprise to see that a reality ending, rather than feel-good ending, prevailed.
I am not saying that this is the best movie of the 21st century, hardly. Tom Hanks had a performance that was one of his finest. Unfortunately, the Academy apparently has the same dysfunction as some of the posters on this board, distracted by quick action and spiffy special effects.Was this review helpful? There have been couple of not good movies with Tom Hanks in it. How could they talk about Oscer????? The first 30 mins. i saw it and i left! The movie wasn't so action-packed as some people said. But i think Tom Hanks will be in another movie which i will give it a 3 or above.

CASTAWAY
I liked castaway and i thought how true is was about if you had some object like 'WILSON' You would be sorry to lose it for it is your only companion. I thought Tom Hanks played the part well and the film is what you would imagine that lifestyle to be like. I would recommend this film to family and friends for its attention to detail.

Wilson rules man! If it wasn't for Wilson in this movie....it would of sucked. There's really nothing wrong with Tom Hanks in my opinion, but he just didn't do it for me in this film. He's been a much better actor in recent films but oh well!----

Boring. Boring. And Boring. I'm glad it didn't win an award. If anyone would've gotten an academy award it would've been Wilson. I expected a lot more from Tom Hanks. Not as bad as Battlefield Earth or Armaggedon though.

Why oh why oh why did those stupid marketing managers air all the best parts on T.V.? There is really no point to watch this movie other to watch Tom Hanks wither away at an island for an hour.
The dvd is stuffed with "Making of..." documenteres which I really HATE.And I just cant think of anything else to say about this DVD package. I could go on and on and about how I HATE "Making of..." what ever you may think of tom hanks never let it be said he was a 2nd rate actor, personally he is the best that has come along in along time and castaway is a 5 star movie .I will be buy the DVD movie adding it to his many other 5 star movies

This movie really makes you see how precious the little things in life are IE: a book of matches , an axe , flashlights , friends , family and so on . These are things that we always take for granted as a society .
