    A look at the 60's

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 17, 2003 | 1 out of 1 found this Casino Royale (1967) review helpful

Pros: Great Video/Audio transfer and bonus material

    Cons: Can't think of any

When I first saw "Casino Royale" in the 60's, It gave me the "Deer in the Headlights" stare! I came out of the theater and thought to myself, "What was that???". I was hooked and had to see it over and over.Since t...hen, I've taped it off broadcast TV, but the quality obviously suffered a lot. So when the DVD came along, I was really excited. Well, my hopes were fulfulled, because this is a lavish widescreen transfer of a Technicolor movie with excellent stereo sound! As a side note, Audiophiles have been buying the soundtrack (composed by Burt Bacharach and performed by Herb Alpert) on vinyl LP's for about $150 (USED!) because of the recording quality. This is a "Must Buy" for Bond collectors too...BTW, If you like Bacharach, you should also get Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid". Pros: Allstar cast, great sets, funky storeline

Cons: jokes are dated( guess that dates me..lol )

I love Bond movies and was happy to finally get my hands on a copy of this movie to add to my bond collection. A must have for Bond fans.

For Bond Completests and People Under 13

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 22, 2002

This movie is deffinatley a product of it's time. From it's all-star cast, it's music score (which was the insparation for Austin Powers), and it's psichedelic-ness (is that a word?).I saw this film when I was, like, 10 and it fascinated me. Big sets..., wierd happenings, lots o' fun. Now it's in my DVD collection just so that my Bond collection is complete.Best thing about this DVD: The '54 TV version with Peter Lorrie. I had it on low-quality VHS and was very excited to see it on this disc. I originally purchased this DVD thinking I was paying the money to own the '64 version in widescreen to go with the rest of my Bond collection. But now, with this 1 hour B&W treasure included to replace that crappy tape, I feel it was well-spent money. Read more Less

    The first true spoof movie

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 1, 2000

Casino Royale is a crazy, expirimental spoof movie. Three diferent people directed parts of Casino Royale, and the result is pretty wacky. Good for Niven fans, Sellers fans, or Allen fans. If you like making fun of James Bond movies, you might like ...it also.-Joseph L. Cook Read more Less
