    Martin Campbell (the director) is the man who has,once before, reinvented James Bond whit the leading man Pirce Brosnan. He tries a new thing with Casino Royale. He succsedes. Daniel Craig is a guy who suprised us all. He made me understand the Bond ...films. He put up a fantastic performance... as a man who saves the world - one crazy bomber at a time.     Craig The Best Bond Since Connery

    Pros: This installment of the Bond franchise completely lacks an cheesy one liners. It is far grittier than any of the previous Bond movies.

    Cons: One would hope that the bonsu features would be more in-depth. But they are rather sparing here.

    Just as Joel Schumacher and George Clooney single handedly buried the Batman franchise back in the late 1990's, director Martin Campbell and Pierce Brosnan collectively buried the James Bond franchise. The difference here is that unlike Schumache...r, Martin Campbell has actually taken the chance to mke up for his mistakes of the past. He and the new controversial (controversial just because of his hair color, go figure--sounds just like the fiasco with Metallica back in the '90s) new Bond, Daniel Craig, have teamed together to make one of the better movies in the seemingly unending James Bond franchise. This movie is different and better than previous Bond movies in that it is far grittier than previous Bond movies. It seems less campy than the rather horrible previous outings by Brosnan. There are no pathetic one-liners anywhere to be heard, and the action sequences are even stepped up. They more than make up for the more broring scenes of the poker games inside the casino. Craig himself is far more believeable than Brosnan or even most of the previous Bond's. Part of what makes the movie more believeable is perhaps a result of one of the few bonus features of the movie. The feature in question is a feature (more than likely one that was run on HBO as a promotional tool for the movie) explaining how Craig did most of the stunts in the movie himself, much unilke previous Bond portrayers. The other feature, "Becoming Bond" was enlightening and interesting in that Craig said in the interview here, that he never dreamed of being Bond as a kid or even as an adult. He had so little interest, yet he was obviously swayed by money. But that aside, he did an impressive job in this movie. While those feeatures are a good thing, they are also one of the few downsides of the movie. One would think with such a triumphant return, the studio, along with Campbell would want to sweeten the deal for those wanting to buy the DVD. But the only real features here were the "Becoming Bond" and "The Real Bond" features, and of course the mandatory Bond Girls feature. The Chris Cornell video was ok, but couldn't really be considered a "bonus feature." That lack of "bonus material", and the seemingly far too many plot twists were the only downsides. The number of twists here is a prime example of too much of a good thing. It made the move rather difficult to figure out. But perhaps, as "M" said, trust no one. Perhaps that sentiment was intentionally set through the number of twists through the movie. Despite the few downsides, there are just enough positives through this movie to make it one of the definite best Bond movies yet. Read more Less

    I love this movie. It's so funny and the action scenes are marvelous and so well shot. Especially the car crash scene, totally elaborate.

    I've watched pretty much all of the Bond movies, and have never really been all that satisfied with them. Always kinda thought that it was 'Star Trek' for spy nerds. THIS James Bond doesn't need no freakin invisible car! Hopefully thi...s movie will revitalize this tired franchise, and continue.
