Tình yêu ngỡ là vĩnh cửu, số phận ngỡ là nằm trong tay con người và do con người định đoạt. Vậy mà sao ở "Casablanca", sự sắp đặt của định mệnh lại có sức mạnh lớn lao và vô tình đến vậy. Phim về tình yêu thời chiến bao giờ cũng thế. Ở đó có sự hòa quyện giữa cái lãng mạn và nồng nàn của tình yêu với sự khốc liệt và chết chóc của chiến tranh. Ở đó, mọi tình cảm, mơ ước của cá nhân dường như bị lãng quên và trở thành một thứ gì đó phù du. Mà không phù du sao được khi con người sống hôm nay không biết được liệu ngày mai mình có còn tồn tại trên cõi đời này nữa hay không. Hai nhân vật chính trong phim yêu nhau trong khói lửa của cuộc chiến tranh thế giới lần thứ II. Vẫn yêu và vẫn sống trong khi hiểm nguy và cái chết dường như đang rình rập từng ngày. Không đấu tranh quyết liệt để bảo vệ tình yêu, có vẻ như thờ ơ trước thời cuộc, họ đơn giản chỉ yêu và sống hết mình. Vậy mà, trong cuộc đời, đôi khi để làm được như vậy thôi cũng đã là khó rồi. Mà cuộc đời đôi khi cũng chỉ cần vậy thôi ...

This movie ROCKS! Few stories have such delicious intrigue while maintaining a strong plot that still makes sense. The characters have SO much depth! The actors, especially Humphrey Bogart and Claude Raines IMHO, performed marvelously! The dialogue was extremely clever, but a lot of movies had good dialogue in those days. What stands out about this movie to me, is the way all of these elements come together so well and in such a way as to make you feel proud, happy, excited, refreshed, and just a little bit sad all at once as the final scene comes to an end. Anybody who doesn't like this movie, just didn't "get it."

This movie never gets old. Bogart has it all and shows it off in this picture. Claude Raines almost steals the show. This DVD makes this film look brand new. Absolutely beautiful!

This really is a great movie, don't be turned off by the black and white oldness of it. This is a classic film that contains a great story and a bunch of hilarious, witty, and sarcastic one-liners. Bottom-line, Bogart's a pimp, and Ingrid is a hottie. The supporting cast is excellent as well. Watch this, if only to say that you have seen it.

I agree with the American Film Institute on naming Casablanca the 2nd greatest movies made, only behind Citizen Kane. The star power of Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Claude Rains, and Conrad Veidt makes this film an unforgettable classic. This is one movie that will never get old.

Very excellent movie. Enjoyed it to the max. Humphrey Bogart was absolutely stunning in his great performance. Loved it fully.

One half star goes to scenery and the other half goes to lighting, which was a cliché at the time. A movie that does not amaze you, and a short story that fits more for an Indian movie with all due respect. Fails even to show you the wonderful side of Casablanca and its exotic mood that was dimly apparent. The story is dull and Bogarts performance is less than mediocre at best. If it shows anything, it shows the tolerance of the occupant considering the time. Probably democracy was more prevalent .???!!!
One good thing, however, is the song You Must Remember This. Probably it is the everlasting influence of music not the thoughtfulness of the director or the writer I wish I did not spend $13 for the DVD However I will suggest an alternative classic, a wonderful performance(James Stewart) and a great cinematography Mr. Smith Goes to WashingtonWas this review helpful? This is a classic movie that has stunned audiences for decades. It is set in the continent of Africa during World War II, a common place to hide from the enemy of the time. It involves two lovers that are caught in a turbulent war and divided by a previous marriage. The outstanding writing, acting, and production of the movie sets it apart from anything else that was every created.

The AFI is wrong, THIS is the best movie of all time. It is fun, sad, and complex all at the same time. Pay close attention to the scene where Rick sits down after closing time and in his drunk stupor talks about his involvement in the war. "...what time in New York..." It was made before the US entry into WW@ and, the filmmakers are saying to the audience it is their time to get involved in World War 2.

For those of you who enjoy actors who ACT rather than simply watching a movie for its pops, bangs, and pretty boy/girl couples; Casablanca is a MUST SEE film. Bogie's "Rick" is an extremely complex character caught between greed, honor, and love; all within the dark shadows leading up to W.W. II. With one of the best endings of all time, you will undoubtably want to "play it again, Sam" to catch the extra nuances. As an extra bonus, you might want to watch "When Harry Met Sally" afterwards to make a good video date night.

I fell asleep every 5 minutes. boaring film. please make better use of your time. Count the raindrops or go outside and just stare at your sidewalk. That would be more useful. This story stunk. I hated every minute.
