The Carrack Collection is an eight-track budget-line sampler of Paul Carrack's hits, containing not only solo recordings like "I Need You," but songs from Ace ("How Long"), Squeeze ("Tempted") and Mike the Mechanics ("Silent Running") on which he sang lead. That's a nice touch, but the collection is severely flawed since it was released in 1988, just after "Don't Shed a Tear" and "One Good Reason" became his two biggest hits. Because of this, any of the '90s Carrack collections offer a better portrait of his career and are better purchases than this.
