Born José Carlos Cano Fernández, talented singer/songwriter Carlos Cano became involved in popular music after composing his first song, called "La Miseria," in 1968. Seduced by poetry, he joined a group of writers known as Poesia 70 and participated in a tribute to Federico García Lorca in 1972. Cano made his first record, called A Duras Penas, in 1976.
