CAPTAIN SINBAD is one well hidden little movie that had it's time. When I was a kid, I was mesmerized by this movie by some of the basic plots and ideas it had. It was basically simple, which is how I really like my movies. None too complicated w...ith astounding subplots that dont deter away from the story and simply add to it. I can honestly say, this movie did not lag. With its solid storybook plot, it held onto the movie's concept and took you on a small journey. The subplot I most enjoyed was the screwball antics of the well meaning side drinking magician Calgo. He became the star for me which held this whole movie together. He was not only amusing, but donwright tempting to immitate outside of the theatre. I cant begin to tell you how many times I played out the magical outstretching hand of his that ended by becoming mangled in the evil conquerors lamp. The scene when he was also tormented to tell the truth by having his head spin back and forth from a magical ring's spell was also remarkable. Though the effects were only just substantial, the effects were only to serve to tell the story, and not to overwhelm the audience as many a storybook movie may attempt to do. The ending sequence dragon fight, showed how fake the monster can be, yet still remain threatening. Guy Williams is only good if you like the ZORRO actor to begin with. The princess does her job well as the evil villain. But kudos goes out to the actor who portrayd Calgo, that made this movie MAGICAL! Read more Less
