This has to be my all time favorite movie. You could not ask for a better adventure film to watch. If the directors of today would take a lesson from this film they all would be great. For its time the FX of this film were, and still are great. The ship battles are very realistic and fun to watch. The only thing is I wish this one would come out on DVD.

This movie is a timeless masterpiece. Gregory Peck has accurately captured the personality of Captain Horatio Hornblower as we know him from the history books. He brings to life the war at sea during the Napoleanic Wars.
As an amateur historian, I find this movie an inspiring portrayal of the challenges and way of life of the brave seamen who sailed the wooden warships of England.
This movie is a must for those who would like to enjoy a family movie with incredible educational value.Was this review helpful? Yes - No
