This is the second volume of forro artist and accordionist Dominguinhos' homage to his old mentor, Luiz Gonzaga, "the king of baião." Just as on the first volume, Dominguninhos and a string of invited guest artists interpret a selection of 14 famous songs from the Luiz Gonzagas repertoire. As always, Dominguinhos' style of performing is charming and genuine. One potential drawback to this recording is that it may come across as slightly over-produced. Nevertheless, the songs themselves are excellent examples of the musical tradition of Brazil's arid northeast region, with "A Vida Do Viajante," featuring Chico Buarque, and the humorous "Não Vendo Nem Troco," with Zé Ramalho, standing out as two of the highlights. Other artists making guest appearances on this record include Fágner, Ivan Lins, Elba Ramalho, Tânia Alves, Flávio José, and Alceu Valença.
