    Good, Basic Point & Shoot

Pros: Large LCD, compact size, moderate price

Cons: Lacks advanced features, nasty reddish cast when shooting with incandescent light source

I've been snapping photos for three or four years now, and have been getting progressively more advanced as I learn the art. After buying a digital SLR (Canon 30D), I decided to sell my Canon PowerShot S80 point & shoot camera in favor of the sma...ller SD750. The size of the camera was the main selling point for me. No compact camera can match an SLR for image quality or feature set. However, it's easy to miss that special shot if you didn't bring your big bulky camera with you. Since the SD750 fits in my blue jeans, I can carry it wherever I go. So, no more missing shots for want of a camera. Image quality is good, and the basic features (autofocus, auto exposure, etc.) all work well. All Canon cameras seem to have a nasty reddish cast when shooting indoors under incandescent lights, though, but other than that, the image quality is superb for a camera this size. Colors really pop without any software editing. The LCD is huge, and easy to view. While there are lots of programmed settings for portraits, macros, landscapes, night-time, etc., and even a manual shutter speed setting, the camera lacks a true full-manual mode or other settings like aperture priority that advanced users would appreciate. If you're a basic user, or need a smaller secondary camera, this is a great model with a moderate price. If you are only going to have one camera, and you are serious about learning all aspects of photography (including the technical aspects of completely controlling your exposure), you might look for a higher-end point & shoot or an entry-level DSLR like the Canon Digital Rebel XT. Great versatile point and shoot

By Amber  Jul 30, 2007 | 2 out of 2 found this Canon PowerShot SD750 Digital ELPH review helpful

Pros: manual features, size, quality of shots

Cons: no viewfinder, shutter lag, optical zoom is short.

We replaced our Fuji Finepix 3800 with this camera just a few days ago and are so impressed with the ease of use and versatility of this camera. Although it's not a full SLR by any stretch, the ability to mess with the ISO and exposure settings h...as given me some great quality shots that I never would have been able to get with my other camera. If you are looking for a camera with a great zoom this one is NOT for you. I noticed a very grainy look to pictures where the digital zoom kicked in and the optical zoom doesn't reach that far. The shutter lag is slow, but I don't know of any digital camera that doesn't have a slow shutter. The lack of viewfinder hasn't bothered us, but I've read other reviews of other cameras where it can become a problem in harsh light. I would recommend this camera to anyone who is a shutterbug but wants a good deal. We could have spent $100 more and gotten the SD850 which had more zoom and one more megapixel, but those weren't too important to us right now and the $ was worth saving. We love this camera! You won't be disappointed

Pros: very impressive for a small digi cam!

Cons: it takes awhile to get comfortable with the menu

My fiance is a pro photographer, and suggested this one as a starter. I was impressed with the range of shots you can get esp with the Macro. The clarity is fantastic and it's a fraction of the price of the 1000. IT'S THE SAME CAMERA!!! DON&#...39;T BE FOOLED!!!! I've finally graduated to the NIKON 200 but I always grab the canon when I want some thing light and nimble. Read more Less

    Great Point-and-Shoot

    By Alfred  Apr 22, 2008

Pros: Easy to use, big color screen, small

Cons: picture on camera appears more saturated than on computer, purple glow in intense light/low shutter speed situations

This is an awesome little camera. I bought it with intent to start me off with something that would let me explore the world of photography, so far this camera has done the trick. It's small in design but it still has enough features to let the ...user control the camera, however, the only problem I have is the fact that you cannot manually adjust the shutter speed above 1 second. Nor can you adjust the f stop. the camera does a good job of doing that for you none the less. The iso and white balance can be adjusted manually... as well as some other things I'm sure... The face detection works well and the performance is exceptional when using a high-speed SD card. Read more Less

Pros: sd750 got same quality as sd630,sd700,sd800,sd900 but got better lcd 3 inches as sd630

    Cons: nothing so far

i purchase this while i was confuse about which canon i will buy between sd630,sd700,sd800,sd900 then the guy told me the store got new canon just came in so if i wanna see it,,,then he show me this sd750 and the price was $364 at frys so i was compa...re all of them and turn out i m glad i bought this. the pictures so perfect and easy to use esp stabilization and iso high 1600,sd 630 only 800 and the screen 3 inches like sd630 si this is the best. the sd1000 is new but the price only $297 because it ordinary and kind of light so i did not like it!
