    Pros: easy to use, easy to download pics

    Cons: many features, maybe overwelming for some

    It's my first digital camera and I found it easy to use and the swivel lcd screen is awesome. Recommend this camera for anyone's everyday camera.

    Pros: dollar for dollar the best

    dollar for dollar the best replacement for our 'idiot' 35mm point-shoot Olympus which has been a great camera we've taken all over the world. the nice thing about the canon is it takes regular batteries, don't need to lug around a re...charger. In Feb '06 we're going to France, Italy, Turkey, Iran, India for 4 months and with SDD cards we can carry a thousand pictures on a couple cards. much easier than lugging film too (which might get damaged) we're going to upload our pictures to the web 7-10 days to back them up. the canon a610 is 5mpx which is fine for 4x6 prints, the color is good, the pictures sharp, the camera is much lighter than a SLR counterpart, already talked about storage... also if you can get it at staples they have an awesome warranty, for any reason return it in 2 yrs and get an upgrade.     Pros: Nice Camera I love it very much.

    Cons: None.

    I study computer science and there is no problem to learn how to use it. I just got it today. The price and the value are very good. I really love this camera and this is my second camera. LOVE CANON A610. The pictures are very beautiful.

    Sleeper camera - low cost belies array of features

    Pros: Small, fast processor, uses standard batteries, good file size for anything up to 12x14, same menu and processor as higher end cameras in the Canon lineup.

    Cons: high cost of weather-proof (dive) case; plastic covers for battery, data lines, SD access; plastic tripod mount are flimsy compared to what is otherwise a very solid litttle camera

    I bought this camera as a "shooter" camera - onbe that I would have around when I am out and about (I tend to be around in all sotrs of weather, favoring trails and fairly rugged areas to hike/walk/job in - weather is as weather is - and I ...didn't want to lug the good or best cameras out ion such weather. I purposely got the 610 with the "lower" megapixel rating (vs the similar 620) as - 1. For the number of pictures I ever print above 8x10 (none) and the trade-off for the faster burst mode and quicker read/write time vs the $100 less (neatly covered the price of a high speed 1GB SD card - which I DO suggest as an accessory) and 2. the mechanics and optics of the camera are the same - even the DIGIC II processor is identical (and this is the "heart" of the Canon line all the way up to and inside their DSLR line (Digital Rebel and such). It also shares the same menu and adjustability (I started life with a Zeis Contaflex hand-me down with the full control and optics so I am accustomed to thinking in terms of shutter spoeed, F-stops, etc.) as the S2 IS which is another camera in the collection. Same resolution, better zoom setup, movie mode in the S2 IS - but trade off is larger size and shorter battery life than the 610 - which also costs about half as much... Given that I gave about $250 for the 610 - it is a bargain. You have a high end point and shoot with many of the better capabilties of the more expensive and larger options in a package that will fit in a large pocket. It even takes terrific pictures (laughing) Seriously. Excellent value. Only complaints are the cheap plastic covers for the data ports and the battery case and SD cover. These feel flimsy (whether they are flimsy in fact or not is to be seen as yet) but the impression detracts from what is otherwise a very solidy made, easy to use, and cost-effective little camera.     Best 5 megapixel camera

    Pros: Great pictures, automatic and manual controls, long battery life.

    Cons: a flimsy cover over the output jacks that I know I'll break

    I did alot of research and looked at countless test photos before deciding on the canon a610. As it turned out it was all worth it. This is a great camera. The pictures are beautiful, with nice saturation and detail. Even low light and flash pictures... which have always been either out of focus, or too grainy with my old camera looked good. I like having manual control over the shutter speed and aperture, which allow me more creativity than with a simple point and shoot camera. The Pivoting, LCD screen is also a nice feature.In my opinion this is the best camera in it's catagory, with the best looking pictures and nice features for the price. Read more Less

    I spent a few hours checking out different cameras and this is the one I like dthe best.Really wanted to buy a larger camera but, this one has all the features they had plus a more compact size.
