    After 3 weeks of research!!!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 18, 2005 | 217 out of 228 found this Canon PowerShot A520 review helpful

Pros: Excellent Image Quality for the $. Lots of Settings

Cons: not the sleekest looking, but who cares

I looked about 20-30 different cameras all ranging between 150-$250. Manufactures included Canon, Sony, HP, Samsung, Kodak, Nikon, Minolta, Casio, and Olympus.I tried out about 90% of all the cameras I researched. It came down to Canon's Powerhot... Line and Kodak's LS743. I went with Canon for overall reputation and better processing.. Even though the LS was nicer looking, that about all it had over the canon. I love taking pictures and have an eye for details.. The a520 has allowed me to get what I want out of photography. I take pictues from my little 2 month old daughter to Outdoor Sports and stuff... Overall very happy with my camera.. Also has lots of accessories available (filters, lenses, etc..).. I'll be looking into that as well Read more Less

    A Great Little Camera

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 10, 2005 | 76 out of 78 found this Canon PowerShot A520 review helpful

Pros: Quality, user controls, light, takes great photographs

Cons: Zoom control built into shutter release, recharge time for flash, LCD screen smudges easily

Although it looks and feels something like my old Canon Powershot A20, it is a whole different camera. The plethora of user controls is almost overwhelming and the fact that this camera can accept filters, zoom lenses, etc. makes it a lot more versat...ile than my A20.The photographs taken with the camera are crisp, have natural colors and extremely detailed. One good change is that the A520 uses only 2 AA cells as well as smaller Secure Data/MMC media. This has resulted in a slimmer, lighter camera that still has a solid, quality feel to it. The controls are well laid out and fairly intuitive. There are several drawbacks, however to this camera. The LCD screen seems to smudge quite easily through routine handling. Canon moved the zoom control from a separate control BELOW the shutter release on the A20 to the shutter release itself. Some might find this convenient, but I find it a bit annoying. Overall this is a GREAT value and I would recommend it to anyone. Read more Less

    Excellent price-quality ratio, battery life!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 11, 2005 | 40 out of 40 found this Canon PowerShot A520 review helpful

    Pros: Excellent manual mode

    Cons: Zoom control, colors

This camera has almost the same features as my old A75 camera but in a smaller case. I'll start with the pros: the camera is medium size, small enough to keep it on your jacket's pocket but big enough to remember you it's there, the batte...ries life is amazing (2AA batteries compared to the 4AA used by the A75), the shooting modes gives plenty of opportunities to get professional-looking pictures (ISO ranges, lense opening control, manual focus, etc), the video recording is also a great feature of this camera because the files have great resolution for video and sound, the 4X optical zoom is great with no losing of perspective, for last, the price is excellent for the quality you get. The cons, basically, the colors appear to be "fuzzy" and darker comparing to other cameras as Kodak and Nikkon, this can be fixed by working on the camera settings as the lense opening but is not as easy as you're using other cameras, the camera comes with a 8MB SD memory card whic Read more Less

    Great Camera

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 14, 2005 | 35 out of 36 found this Canon PowerShot A520 review helpful

    Pros: Zoom, Picture quality, Features

    Cons: none

This is the second digitial camera I've bought. The first was a Kodak EasyShare. I bought this camera after during some research on the internet. It is great. My pictures come out great in just about any amount of light. It has great features lik...e the movie mode, which also records sound. The zoom is great on this camera as well. You can adjust if even after you take the picture, which is great. The things that people would refer to as cons such as the battery life are common with ditigal cameras. Do purchase rechargeable batteries because these digital cameras drain alkaline battery life quickly so the $27 at walmart to buy rechargeable batteries with the charger are worth the investment. Also the memory, NO ditigal camera comes with a lot of memory so you must buy a memory card. You can often find these on sale, I got a 256MB one for $20. Read more Less

Ok i got this camera before we went to the beach. Took plenty of pics all weekend on 2 AA batterys (amazing) and used the movie mode on the camera which is not bad for a camera. I bought a 1 gb SD card for the camera.......wow......i dont know how i ...will be able to fill that up my god there is tons of space. i probably take pics all year on that. I have been posting pics online for friends and family and they all say my camera takes very nice pics. Very nice buy it at the lowest price on yahoo shopping thats what i did. Read more Less

    Best camera for the price

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 17, 2005 | 14 out of 15 found this Canon PowerShot A520 review helpful

Pros: Compact camera, uses only two AA, etc.

    Cons: nada

Ive had the canon powershot A75(Excellent Camera until it got defective somehow even though I'm sure easily repaired),Fuji A360,small video resolution, canon A520, no problemo!!! I've made lots of research before i got it so dont even think a...bout making any more research.Definitely the best camera for the price.First of all 4Xoptical zoom. None of those small cameras out there have it. Secondly, 640X480 video resolution ,and trust me you might see that on a Nikon Coolpix,or that Kodak C340,but they are definitely not as sharp as this.Just pay $10-$20 more and get the canon which has all the advanced features .Third, it's a Canon. If you're one of those people out there searching for a reliable and durable digital camera,I'd say buy it now . By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 7, 2005 | 9 out of 10 found this Canon PowerShot A520 review helpful

    Canon:Best Economical Model

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 25, 2005 | 8 out of 8 found this Canon PowerShot A520 review helpful

    Pros: Small size, Cost, Quality,4X-zoom

Cons: A little less memory space

I bought this camera for taking snaps of beautiful fall colors....I got it for 180$ about 2 months ago from circuitcity ....Really satisfied ! Very compact, small and light. Like most of the other Digi-cams, it definitely needs a separate memory card... of atleast 256Mb; 'cos it only comes with 16Mb in built card..Another important feature is 4X Zoom which you can't get in any other genuine models i that price-range...I guess the price has even reduced due to latest deals...Worth a buy for a first time user..Must buy for a novice, just go for it. One of the Best in it's class!!!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 30, 2006 | 6 out of 6 found this Canon PowerShot A520 review helpful

Pros: Great picture quality, easy to use and fun

Cons: Maybe better zoom acuity and range, but its not bad

I am not really into photography and getting the right lighting, angle and everything else...but this camera does it for me! I just take a lot of pictures and wanted a good, durable camera. That's what I got in this little baby. I would recommend... to anyone who is looking for digital camera and wants to spend $150-$200 on one. I HAD a Sony Cybershot 4.1 and this is by far greater in every aspect. Canon did a good job here. Read more Less
