    New Canon 10D

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 26, 2003 | 33 out of 37 found this Canon EOS-10D review helpful

I had a 1 megapixel Kodak and couldn't keep batteries in it long enough to use it. Took less than 50 pictures total with it.So I waited until I saw what I wanted and tried to use friend's cameras.I liked the pocket sized Canon A20.Then I pla...yed with my sister's Canon D30 and it was great.I looked for a deal on a D30 or D60 and saw the anouncement of the 10D.I ordered it the next week.I have used it for 6 weeks now.I have taken about 600 pictures playing with features and getting comfortable with it.I am using the 28-135 IS USM zoomAlso using a 512 cf card & a couple of extra battery packs. The 512's hold about 179 picturesand I can shoot more than on cardfull on one battery. So 4 cf cards and 3 batteries are going on vacation with me and I am set.I LOVE MY NEW CANON 10D !!!!---- RandalI may never shoot any more film and just sell all my old SLR equipment. But you do need to upgrade your flash unit to one that supports digital. The older ones give you incosistent results. A Professional Digital SLR Camera, at a consumer price-point.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  May 3, 2003 | 19 out of 20 found this Canon EOS-10D review helpful

Pros: Professional quality SLR, Interchangeable lenses, 6.5 Megapixel low-noise CMOS sensor, customized functions, metal body. Cons: Big size compared to compact pocket cameras, expensive but still a value in its class. The Bottom Line: A professiona...l fully featured digital SLR camera at an incredible price. Suitable for advanced hobbyists, professionals and high-end consumers. This camera would be overkill for almost 90% of average consumer use. Professionals will find it convenient, and a bargain compared to alternative digitalback solutions. Read the full detailed review on Epinions: http:/

    This is the ONE!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 15, 2003 | 12 out of 14 found this Canon EOS-10D review helpful

I have been waiting for a good value in a digital SLR. I previously purchased a Kodak 4800 (3 mp) with all its lenses and accessories. I have a 6 year old Canon Rebel G with several lenses. I thought about getting the Nikon D100, but would have to sp...end a lot for accessories. Thank heavens I waited because Canon really made its mark this time with the Canon 10D. It is an amazing camera. First of all, it is solid. The LCD is sharp, there is no noise in any of the photos I have taken. With the Canon lenses I had already, there was little to buy. Every picture taken outdoors is flawless, with only a little PhotoShop tweaking. Indoor lighting can be tricky, but the camera compensates for that. For $1500, it is a steal! Buy an extra battery and a 512 card. You will need them. Read more Less

It does not get any better than this

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 29, 2003 | 6 out of 7 found this Canon EOS-10D review helpful

I have had 5 digital cameras but this was my real purchase. An SLR camera that works with all my lenses. The quality of photos, printed on Conon I850 printer are far better than any professional lab. The pictures are vibrant and simply talk to you.... You just have to see it to believe it. Simly the best!!!! Read more Less

    watta camera!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 20, 2003 | 5 out of 5 found this Canon EOS-10D review helpful

With trepidation I paid the $1500 for this, my third digital camera. I have used Kodak's cameras in the past and was very happy with the ease of use and quality of shots. I was limited, though, with the lenses available. I already have several... Canon 35mm EOS and my lense collection in significant. I am now delighted with my decision. I have now taken over 700 shots in 4 weeks. I have used all modes available. The shots vary from portraits to sports to landscape. All lighting types. Wow, what a camera! Easy to use. Menu system very easy. Software is excellent. No complaints even after having to pay for a CF card since one is not included. Read more Less

    "International version" - NO WARRANTY

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 5, 2003 | 4 out of 4 found this Canon EOS-10D review helpful

The camera is great! However, be warned of "international versions" sold by some internet merchants that carry no warranty, and has all the menu items written in Japanese.

    For the serious Amateur

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 15, 2003 | 3 out of 3 found this Canon EOS-10D review helpful

This camera is nothing short of amazing. I am a long time 35mm Minolta user which means I have a huge investment in Minolta lenses. After using this camera in the store for 20 minutes I decided to buy it.The features on the camera are for the serio...us photographer; Complete Manual settings, AEB, White Balance modification...etc. If you want a "point-n-shoot" camera, this is not for you. The only downside to the camera is the lack of a spotmeter. Sure the built in meter modes are nice, but I have used a built-in spot meter for years and it's hard to get used to something else.I highly recommend the camera for anyone who is a long time 35mm user who is tired of paying $50/week for film development (I used to shoot 3 rolls of B/W a week). Perfect for DSLR starters

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 6, 2003 | 2 out of 2 found this Canon EOS-10D review helpful

The camera is well designed, its perfect for starters who are just getting in to the DSLR world, I could use a USB 2.0 or Firewire connection built in, other than that its great.

    Older equipment, good choice

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 15, 2007 | 1 out of 1 found this Canon EOS-10D review helpful

Pros: low cost, hammer like durability, dependable

    Cons: slow auto response

Yes, it is dated, now. When this camera came out, it was the right stuff. Now the market wants higher mega pixel numbers more CCD surface area, and just more stuff. I shoot around 10~15 thousand images annually, not a lot compared to some API photogs..., but hey, this is more a love than a meal ticket for me. I find the 10D or D10 as it is known to some, a crescent wrench. You know the one tool you use most, the one you reach for more than a special use tool. This is a great camera, images as good or better than a 35mm film camera, and one hell of a lot better than a camera shooting film the size of this cameras CCD (do the math, the image from the lens is enlarged 1.6 times the size a full frame 35mm would be…). Now the challenge: find one. Read more Less

    10D a great 1ST SLR

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 8, 2009

    Pros: built like a brick!

Cons: low FPS NO "EF-S" not self cleaning..

most folks buy a XTI or other "entry level" SLR but I wanted a metal body Cam so i got a 10D back in 07' and Fell in love .. shure is a low MP cam but so is the D40 . and all I did back then is web photos so MP was not a issue .. the 10...D is a GREAT value to a new photographer and for $300 plus a 24-85 F3.5 lens and a speedlight and your set for all most anything! I had 2 10D's until I got a 40D then a 1Dmk2.. there is 1 BIG issue It will not work with EF-S lenses .. where all the other newer APS-C cams will BTW I only use plain EF because my 1Dmk2 is APS-H and I have a A2 film body so I need full frame compatibility .. if you are on a tight budget and a want a "mid-line" SLR for the features and don't mind 6MP then this SLR is GREAT ! there is a huge difference between the "rebel" line and the rest of the Canon SLR line .. and most of the accessory like batts(500 series) and cables are reusable for the rest of the canon Mid-line like the 40 and 50D so buying in to a Mid line system that can grow unlike the rebel line is a wise idea. and the menue is the very similar to the current 40D ..there is the Jog dial that makes using the 10D a snap unlike those buttons in the other SLRs.. one thing make shure the cam comes with a body cap as its not self cleaning and any dust is a PAIN to remove ..... peter Read more Less
