    Nice Camera

By FrostyPop  Mar 9, 2006 | 44 out of 59 found this Canon PowerShot S80 review helpful

    Pros: x-tra clear, sharp pics

    Cons: very complicated instructions

It's a nice camera, not too bulky and the pictures are clear, and sharp. however, the average person would have trouble understanding all the instructions on how to use it, and the number of pictures that fit in the memory card aren't that ma...ny for the price of the camera. Read more Less

By Jack  Jun 28, 2006 | 22 out of 25 found this Canon PowerShot S80 review helpful

Pros: Pictures are better than film

Cons: Difficult to find negative - cause it's digital

This camera takes great pictures. I took a photo and had it enlarged to 20" x 30" poster. It came out so clear that I am finally sold on digital cameras. I have better than 20 - 20 vision so I am a little sensitive to clarity. This camera d...oes the trick. By the way, high speed memory card is important. You should invest in one to take advantage of the features of this camera. Read more Less

Pros: The Best Camera I ever used.

    Cons: Nada

I have had eight different models of digital cameras ranging from point and shoot, to slr's... This one is a keeper. It is buy far the most straight forward camera out of the box that I've owned... You almost do not need instructions. Canno...n, keep it up. Bob Read more Less

    Great quality and compact

By LauraS  Aug 12, 2006 | 14 out of 14 found this Canon PowerShot S80 review helpful

Pros: Lots of megapixels; excellent quality (doesn't look digital at all); great software included; memory cards are affordable; love the rechargable battery

Cons: Sometimes slow for sport shots (like soccer games), even on sports setting

I did an extensive amount of research before finally buying this camera. It is my first digital, and I absolutely love it. My sisters have other brands, and they have both had problems. Additionally, neither one of them has a rechargable lithium b...attery. I wouldn't have a digital camera without one, especially with so many megapixels. Use the highest quality when taking pictures...otherwise, why spend money on so many megapixels if you don't actually use them? The quality of photos with this camera is excellent, and the compact design with so many features makes it a perfect camera. I also scrapbook, so I take loads of pictures, and this camera is excellent for that! Read more Less

Best digital I have purchased (by far)

By uncerrie  Jul 31, 2006 | 12 out of 13 found this Canon PowerShot S80 review helpful

Pros: Image Quality, good shutter speed, compact size, waterproof case

Cons: Case not included (get one ASAP -LCD is sensitive to scratching), movies are poor

Happy to see that digital cameras have come this far. Excellent build quality, great features, ease of use and great pics. Desktop software is the best I have seen coming with a camera. Panoramic shots are easy to take and stitch(thank you Canon)! ...Only reservation is the small blemishes/scratches I seem to have gotten on the back LCD. Don't interfere with using, but seems like it scratch a little too easily... Buy a cases ASAP. Read more Less

    Great Camera

    By scorpiod97  Aug 12, 2006 | 6 out of 7 found this Canon PowerShot S80 review helpful

Pros: Large Display, Crisp High-Quality Photos, Intuitive Operation, Size,

Cons: Shutter Speed a little slow, advanced settings a little difficult to find

This camera is absolutely incredible. This is my first digital camera, and I have to say that I'm very impressed. After doing a lot of research I settled on this camera. I like that you can adjust the settings on the camera that will adjust the s...ize, quality, and megapixels. I keep mine set on the highest settings, and I am NEVER disappointed. It does exactly what I want it to do. This camera has an amazing 8Megapixel power for its size. I have an old Canon SLR 35mm (non-digital) and I have not picked it up since I purchased the Powershot S80. In fact, I am reconsidering my need to purchase a Digital SLR. This camera so far goes above and beyond my amateur photography needs. If you use the digital zoom and it is still not close enough for you, you can zoom in more with the computer and still maintain a highly pixelated image.I am yet to use all the features available on this camera. I have received so many compliments on the photos that I have taken, I almost feel guilty taking all the credit. Almost. If you're looking for an incredibly powerful, small point and shoot digital camera with lots of features, options, settings, and easy to use and figure out, this would be it. It is intuitevely designed, produces crisp & beautiful pictures, and very attractive; everytime I take it out, people ask me about it. It is worth the money. I have no complaints for this product. Great Camera

By Justin  Sep 14, 2006 | 3 out of 3 found this Canon PowerShot S80 review helpful

    Pros: Everything

Cons: A lot of features to figure out; a bitter sweet issue!

I now only buy S-Model cameras from Canon. My last camera was the S-50, which was also an amazing camera, but the S-80 blows it completely out of the water. The two major issues I noticed with the older S-models (slow start-up and painfully low bat...ter life) have been totally fixed. It is an expensive camera (and a little large), but WELL worth the money if you want a high quality, long lasting camera. Read more Less

    Perfect camera

By Arthur  Jan 6, 2007 | 2 out of 2 found this Canon PowerShot S80 review helpful

    Pros: Excellent digic performance

    Cons: Lenses slightly distort images

This is really perfect camera for taking ordinary and everyday images. It is also very useful during travel and other extremal shooting, because of its compact size and professional digic system. The shot images are really of high quality, but the le...nses always distort all images by the lens circular distortion. Most of its users don't pay attention to this factor, but I think it is very important for shooting professional images. Read more Less

Pros: image quality, features, small and tough, big LCD

Cons: weak slider lens door, zoom is week

I really do love this camera. all the pros I could talk about but I wana talk about the cons. the slider door to the lens, the one that turn the whole camera on, is weak so be careful DO NOT put it in you pocket cause it will open then the lens will... try to open and get stuck and gears will strip then you have to end it to Canon which is quite easy but try to avoid it. I wish there was just a bit more opt. zoom, but good camera. With all the features it helps me to understand how to take pics. Read more Less
