Pros: none
Cons: wasned out outdoor pictures
clumsy user interface, after about a year any picture I took outdoors was completely washed out.
Pros: Goes where you go without extras.
Cons: lacks high resolution and no external flash
If you want an all around camera with verstility than the Canon S2IS is a great choice. I have taken many many great shots, even some contest winners with this camera. I am searching now to make the move to a DSLR. The hard time is that a guy on the move as I am can take this camera anywhere and everywhere. I've been hiking and rafting with this camera and never has it failed me. Of course a dry case was used on the raft trip. The portability of the camera alone has halted me from making the DSLR move. Some of the things I don't like is the flash. It is very harsh and often I have to defuse it with paper. Nor does it have an external hot shoe to put an external flash on. The S2IS also has low MP's at 5.0. I have shot some great video with this camera also. With a 2.0 gig card I can get enough video for what I need (12 minutes) and lock and shoot pictures with minimal interruption in the video. I suppose if you put everything in one camera corporations would go broke so a feature here and a feature there will keep you coming back for more upgrades.
Pros: For Canon: worked long enough to beat the warranty
Cons: Became after 18 months
Camera was great for approx 18 months and then began to fall apart one feature after the other. It started with a raspy noise when powering up. Later it lost it's ability to focus on anything more than 20 feet away and the latest trick is a view finder that is out of focus. Lot's of fun when you're trying to decide when to take the picture. The only thing more disappointing than the camera was Canon's customer service. I can't help but notice that the positive reviews for this camera are early on and the negative ones are later on when the warranty is expired. In another fine Canon moment the A60 I gave to a coworker when I purchased the S2 no longer works either. Hopefully no one will be duped into buying anything from Canon unless they are in the market for a $300 disposable camera.
Pros: NTC
Cons: NTC
Nhìn cÅ©ng thÃch Äấy , cho thì lấy...có tiá»n cÅ©ng ko mua !!!
Pros: nice when it did not have a stuck shutter
Cons: Canon will not admit the stuck shutter is a defect
If you look with a search engine you will find at least one web site that has numerous sad stories about how Canon will not admit the successor to the S1 IS has a defective part and they are saying it is the CCD or the optic unit and are repairing some free but charging $175.00 to others and every other person calling in about the same issue where the display stops showing what is coming through the lens, because the shutter is stuck closed. The keep saying send it in and we will see what can be done and after practically begging some customers are getting the repair free!
Pros: Easy to use, good zoom, good picture detail
Cons: After 1yr it has serious reliability problems
The camera works great and it's easy to fall in love with it at first. But after a year (conveniently after the warranty ends), the camera has had numerous reports of going dead.
Many people believe it suffers from the same unstable CCD array as the S1 model. Canon has acknowledged the problem with the S1 and will fix it free of charge. But they have not acknowledging a systematic design flaw with the S2 and will not cover it.
You can call up their customer support and sometimes you will luck out and they will repair it for free, but most of the time they will ask for ~$150 to fix it.
I used mine rarely, for probably only 300 total pictures, and absolutely babied it as far as handling, before it seemed to die on me. LUCKILY I was able to fix it but who knows for how long (the shutter sticks and sometimes won't open when you power on the camera).
It appears that Canon does not stand by the quality of their products. I was very surprised to see this because I bought this thinking a strong name like Canon meant if I had any problems, they would help me.
It is amazing how hard it is to find any negative reviews of this camera. Almost makes one think most Google queries are shills for the product in question.
Don't just take my word for it. 700+ people reported problems with their PowerShot S2IS on this website (it got a 2 out of 5 star rating):

Pros: Quality; Features; Price
Cons: each year a new model comes out
What a great camera! I bought it in 2005 and still cannot get enough of it. Each year Canon upgrades it, but I really don't see the point of paying additional $100-$200 for one more MP. This is a great devide that I would recommend to anyone who enjoyes photography yet is not ready to spend money on a pro camera
Pros: beautiful pictures
Cons: a little pricey
I bought this camera last Nov. it is the first digital camera I've owned. I am still learning how to use all of the cameras features but as of this point in time I love it.Tele-photo, close-up , action shots, and still are almost always perfect and the user interface program bundle is very intuitive.
Pros: I like the availability of adapteres and lens as wella s filters.
Cons: No shutter release cable ability
I have owned my S2 since last summer. It takes great pictures. I like the viewfinder as wella s the lcd screen for fast or outdoor use. I wishit had a cable release ability. Ihave a lens shade, lens adapter ring, telephoto lens, and a wide angle lens as well as a haze and polarized filter. I can do many things wiith it since I have a lot of control. It is not a highend slr but it is close enough for the price to be a great bargain.

Pros: Easy to use
Cons: Mine just don't work
It is easy to use, but mine is not working any more. The only thing you can see through the lens/LCD is a black space. I tried the troubleshooting but has no option for that problem. Tried then the online support, they said I will need to send it along with my receipt if (I buyed it less than a year ago) to Illinois for a review. Guess what, I buyed it 14 months ago...
Pros: SUPER ZOOM, LIGHT & USES AA BATTERIES
Cons: OPTIONAL WIDE ANGLE NOT CHEAP
I HAVE OWNED MORE THAN TEN DIGITAL CAMERAS, BY FAR THIS ONES THE BEST. LIGHT WIEGHT, FAST ZOOM, AA BATTERIES, EASY INSTRUCTIONS, TAKES AWESOME PICS, WELL MADE FOR A LIGHT WEIGHT. EVEN THE AA BATTERIES LAST LONGER WITH FLASH.
Pros: Excellent Pictures and features. Love the video and zoom modes!
Cons: A little bulky, not a camera you can just drop in your purse.
I have owned this camera for a few years now and this is by far the best camera I have ever owned.
And while at first sight the manual might put a first time user off, it's really just a teddy bear.
The trick to this wonderful camera is to take it out and play with it. Don't be afraid to change the settings and experiment. And even if your not one to experiment, the camera is as easy as point and shoot on the Auto mode.
And don't forget the Zoom...it really get's you up close and personal. You'll be rewarded with professional looking, quality pictures. Enjoy!
Pros: Sharp Images, Fast Focus and zoom.
Cons: Not that sharp at higher zooms , In movie mode it sometimes un focuses.
I bought this camera about a year ago and I use it eveywere i go. I mainly use it for shoting exotics cars on the road, and at car events. The zoom is quiet and fast and the speed of it is better than average. Am steping up to a DSLR soon.
Pros: Image, ease of use, battery life
Cons: size
This is second canon camera that I have purchased and the both of them are wonderful. This camera is easy to use and it has a lot of features that add to the quality of the camera! The battery life is extended because the flash is manual so you don't have to get special batteries! I LOVE CANON! : )
