Pros: large screen, handy controls, long battery life,

    Cons: haven't found any yet

I have always been a Nikon person and even bought a Coolpix 5400. I returned the Nikon because I wasn't satisfied. Admittedly, I am very picky about my cameras. I bought this G6 about 2 months ago and have been very pleased with this camera. The ...battery life is incredible. It has many functions which I have yet to try out, yet it is a very simple camera to use right out of the box. (Which is what I do - use first and read the manual later!)I have never bought a Canon before - just one Minolta and many Nikons. I am just extremely pleased with this camera. The flash is small, but does an excellent job of illuminating the area. The macro function is simply awesome. I have never had a camera that would take pics at 2 inches or so. The detail is great. I am also pleased with the screen size. Many cameras are going for smaller and smaller screens, but those small screens lose much detail. You have to download the picture to see if it is good or not. All in all, as picky as I am, I am very pleased with the G6. Read more Less

    Excellent Camera

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 1, 2005 | 9 out of 11 found this Canon PowerShot G6 review helpful

Pros: Style, weight, picture quality, ability to add features, long battery life, etc, etc.

    Cons: None found so far

I purchased this camera about 2 months ago. I also own a Powershot S50, and a Powershot S60. I purchased the G6 for it's increased picture resolution, features, ability to add on items (flashes, lense adaptor w wide angle/macro lenses and filter...s, etc.). For the money the camera is excellent overall. A lense adaptor and/or filters are NOT needed for this camera, but are good additions if you plan on using this camera in a variety of lighting conditions. You do not need a filter for the built in flash, or a wide angle/zoom shot. The ability of ANY built in flash is limited, as is true in any camera you buy. I have purchased the lense adaptor (52mm) along with a UV filter, and the Canon 550ex flash for this camera. I love the flash; makes for incredible lighting control (once you learn how to use the flash properly). The inability to swap lenses as with the Pro 1 or DSLR cameras is a given, and I didn't buy it thinking I would be able to change the lense itself. The lense adaptor along with a wide angle/zoom or macro lense works wonderful. I would recommend this camera to anyone who is looking for a great quality camera at an intermediate user level. The camera will perform as a point and shoot camera, but has a wealth of features beyond that would are easy to use once you become familiar with them. I would buy a much larger CF card than what comes in the box though. Read more Less

    Canon PowerShot G6 Digital Camera

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 16, 2006 | 2 out of 2 found this Canon PowerShot G6 review helpful

Pros: Can also be use as a Proffessional Digital Camera

Cons: My experiance is the built in Flash may not bright enough.

It is worth every penny. The picture quality is outstanding. Even if you lowered the resolution, you still get very good pictures. And then when you used all the resolution, the qulality of the pictures will blow your mind away. The technology in thi...s camera is what is in pro cameras. Its a good buy. I don't know about others who owened this camera but I'm in love with mind. The only shot fall is I wish the flash was a lot bigger and brighter. I have used the G5, however the Flash of the G5 is brighter than the G6 (just my opinion). I solve this by purchasing an external flash that is compatable mountable to the hot shoe. Read more Less

    More than impressed!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 7, 2006 | 1 out of 1 found this Canon PowerShot G6 review helpful

Pros: Great features, long battery life, impressive pics!

Cons: No low light shooting mode, add-ons expensive.

What a great camera for the price. The features are a who's who of photography, the LCD is just the right size, and the swivel feature on the screen makes taking self portraits and family pics incredibly simple. The only thing i don't like ab...out the whole package is the lack of low light shooting mode, and the price of accessories. i think $250 is a tad expensive for a non-SLR lens. Overall, great product, highly recommended. Read more Less

Pros: A good camera with endless possibilities

    Cons: Haven't encountered any

I purchased my G6 a year ago October. I've never been the type of consumer to use manuals. But, trial and error in not getting the results I knew the camera could yield forced me to use the manual. I like that you can set and save settings--unlik...e other cameras on the market. I'm very interested in making this camera work for me in that I am pursuing photogarphy as more than a hobby. Like anything else in life, you have to do what works for you with your G6. I'm already anticipating my next Canon purchase. The G6 is the fourth digital camera I've owned. Love the Canon. Read more Less

    Pros: Excellent quality, good features

Cons: Very bad design of flash

I bought Canon G6 last week. It was excellent experience untill i bought THE MUST BUY ACCESSARY LA-DC58D ADAPTER (approximately $50) AND 3 PIECE FILTER KIT(approximately $70). You can not take snaps with flash and adapter on . The image gets adapter ...shade with flash on. To get rid of the shade either you have to switch the off flash or to buy additional i guess MUST BUY ACCESSARY (approximately $125) i.e EXTERNAL FLASH to use adapter and filter kit. It's really nice way of making money from coustemers or bad engineering from CANON. It's No where mentioned about this flaw/problem. At the end i ended spending extra $145(50+70+125) on MUST BUY ACCESSARY for $565 CANON G6 camera. I guess by spending few more $'s, I would have got higher model. The image quality is great and has bunch of features. Very good camrea for it's value. Good software. I picked G6 over Olympus C-5060.If you want to spend some extra extra $'s on accessary, i think this is good camera. Read more Less

    Canon G6

Pros: Resolution, LCD screen, ease of use

    Cons: Shutter lag

I have had my G6 since they were released for sale. My previous camera was an old FT-QL that has finally given up the ghost. The G6 has renewed my faith in Canon. It has proven to be just as good of a workhorse as the old FT. Image quality is great, ...battery life is excellent. The G6 has ridden along for thousands of miles on my yearly motorcycle trips with nary a whimper. Heat, cold, humidity, rough roads. I don't know who is going to last longer, me or the G6. Great point and shoot camera for the prosumer.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 3, 2007

Pros: Angled LCD helps with those weird camera angles.

Cons: It's a little too big for your pocket, but has great features.

I've had this camera for many years and it's survived a couple of drops from the camera bag and still keeps on ticking. It's a great camera for those out there who want more control (i.e., shooting RAW) without lugging around a big DSLR. ...When I want to carry less weight or just don't want to lug around all my DSLR equipment, this camera is a great back up. Quality is fairly good under 400 ISO. Fun features like evaluative white balance and sepia toning make for some creative photography if you don't want to do a lot of digital darkroom processing.
