Pros: 1.8" LCD Flip Out, Scene Shot, Manual Control, Nimh battery, 5 mp

    Cons: More Noise, purple fringing

This time I give 4 to Canon A95, I was hope this model will be much better upgrade from A80 (I had A80 also, see my review). To be honest, I'm little bit unhappy with Canon how they make this model, why? A95 body look cheaper than A80 body that h...as nice shape and look elegant. Both has the same shape but you will able to tell that A80 body better than A95, specially the lens ring.A95 has a few upgrade than A80, with 1.8" the lcd flip out bigger than A80 give you more view before you take the scene. Scene, new mode for A95, it was for A75 only, but now A95 has too, give you an easy control to take automatic pic, so as Point & Shot camera Canon really smart to add this feature in A95 (nice upgrade from A80). Everything else will be the same with A80 features. For the size of lens but more megapixel than A80, A95 picture little bit noise, at iso 200 A80 noise is acceptable, but you will notice more noise at this iso in A95. Purple fringing still problem for Canon in A model. The weight little bit light than A80. Battery life is longer and being trademark for Canon than another brand. With Custom White Balance (same as A80), A95 will give a filter color and very usefull to make a good picture (save money for not buying any filter lens). If you are looking an upgrade for A80, nothing much you can have from this model except the bigger lcd and scene shot. If you new and want to have P&S camera that has manual control and good quality picture, I will say grab this model and you will happy to have A95. Read more Less

    Great camera

    By Dr.KP  Nov 10, 2004 | 33 out of 34 found this Canon PowerShot A95 review helpful

Pros: Excellent quality images, great features, true colour,so simple to use.

    Cons: Will never find one

This is really an amazing camera. Although i was planning to buy one digital camera for the last one year or so none of the cameras fullfilled my criterias. After lot of hunting for the right camera Canon A 95 turned out to be the best. It's very... simple to operate, has excellent features, amazing picture quality. I bought this 10 days back and am really satisfied with photos i'm getting. I also bought 512 MB cf card and i have already shot more than 300 shots. It's just fantastic. It's fast shutter mode, landscape, macro modes produces just stunning pictures. Truely a great buy. Read more Less

Pros: Macro lens, wide angle, bright LCD screen, functions

Cons: Tends to slip out of your hand, so hold on tight

The newspaper I work for just replaced my Canon EOS film camera with the PowerShot A95. After reading the manual and burning out a set of batteries, I'm convinced this little camera does SOOOO much more than the EOS could ever do.I can focus down... to nearly 2 inches, whereas the EOS would not let me get closer than a foot or so from an object. The tilt LCD screen means I don't have to stand on a chair to take a shot looking down, and can simply hold the camera above my head and look up at the LCD screen. Same goes for shooting at table height, say, when your photographing kids working on arts and crafts projects and you want to get a real birds-eye view of their handiwork....I love shooting at angles, and this camera is a true revelation for me....Best of all, I can shoot in average to low light situations without having to use the built-in flash. I really try to avoid using the flash whenever I can. This camera is so much more capable of shooting in low light situations that I'm absolutely thrilled with its capabilities. It also has preprogrammed compensation modes allowing me to shoot in the snow, shoot foliage, shoot at the beach, or at night, or even pets. The camera will set the perfect exposure for each of those unique situations.I am absolutely thrilled with this little camera !And with the optional 256 meg memory card, I can shoot 100 photos without worry.... A95 Best Value for the money!!!

By Jared  Feb 23, 2005 | 13 out of 14 found this Canon PowerShot A95 review helpful

Pros: flip out lcd, easy use, great picture quality, low price

Cons: maybe red eye, but haven't used a dig yet that didn't

I researched the digital camera world over and over again before purchasing the Canon A95. I have a good friend who purchased the Canon G6 a few months prior to my buying the A95, and have found that for nearly half the price I can do just as much. I... actually preferred the pic quality a bit more on the same pics i took versus the G6. He would return the G6 in a second and pick up the A95 for the money. I write this because his camera is big and bulky, wherein the A95 is a perfect fit in my hand, otherwise the G6 is also a great camera with more megapixels. I have owned Nikon and Minolta in the past, neither compare to the Canon quality. The A95 has more options that an intermediate can easily use than any other camera out there. The Ai auto focus is something that most cameras in its class do not have. Take a look ... you will find it in the higher price models. Anyway, Bottomline... you can't beat this camera for price and quality! Read more Less

    A95 Has Drawback

By byron  May 10, 2005 | 6 out of 6 found this Canon PowerShot A95 review helpful

Pros: Excellent camera, easy to use, swivel screen - great

    Cons: Poorly constructed battery door

Have an A80 that has the same build characterictics as the A95. Love the camera but am totally bummed by the poor construction of the battery door and the response from Canon Service?! Door is made of plastic and failed when plastic just broke apart... on its own with no event to cause it to fail within 5 months of purchase. Returned it to Canon at a cost of over $16 to return it. Good response, back in less than 2 weeks. 6 months later, door broke when dropped in a soft case from less than 2 feet. Returned to Canon, another $16 shipping. Response from Canon this time was to repair the door for a cost of $150. or they would send me a reconditioned camera for $150. Told them to send it back as it unrepaired. Now using rubber band and shipping tape to hold it together. Often get questions as I travel regarding the tape & rubber band. Love to tell them about the way Canon treats you if you have a minor repair to a poorly designed battery door. Would strongly recommend the 5 megapixel Sony. Larger screen, better constructed, better value. Read more Less

    Good bargain for your money

By nick  Apr 26, 2005 | 5 out of 5 found this Canon PowerShot A95 review helpful

Pros: good picture quality, number of modes, compact.

Cons: Veeery Slow in dark, out of focus if no enough light, poor quality movies.

I purchased Canon PowerShot A95 around Christmas last year and went for Utah skiing. The camera is pretty compact to fit your pocket, good quality pictures if enough light. By the top of the mountain there is always cloudy and pictures did not come o...ut well enough. One would have to play with level of white as well. It takes a while for it to set the focus also. Many pictures were distorted because skiing is not a slow sport. Other than that it turned out to be a very good value for 290 dollars. Batteries serve long (watch out preview mode - don't forget to turn camera off!). Many features make it a good toy for those willing to play with the settings. It is not heavy, feels good in hand, very convenient. If you are considering which one to buy - this one is a good start. But definetly, not a camera for professionals. Did not use customer support - so don't know about it. The camera is self explaining. Read more Less

    Pros: everything

    Cons: none

This is the first digital camera I have owned. I've always used 35 mm. This camera is easy to use and does so many things I can't say which is the best. I bought a 256 card it holds so many photos, I can review them immediately, save them in ...the camera and then down load to my computer. I will probably never use my 35 mm again. Read more Less

Pros: Image quality, camera features, scalability, battery life

    Cons: none found yet

I upgraded from a 2.3M Ricoh to the Canon A95...after a lot of research and "trials." I did my homework and it paid off. This camera is extremely easy to use for the beginner and has enough "manual" controls for the experienced ph...otographer to stay interested. The form factor is very easy in the hand. The Battery life ( NiMH ) is incredible. I am still on my first charge...and have taken probably 400+ photos already! The value for the money spent/ features available and image quality is in its own class. I highly recommend this camera. You will not be disappointed...! Read more Less

    Powerhouse camera

By Steve  Apr 4, 2005 | 6 out of 9 found this Canon PowerShot A95 review helpful

    Pros: lots of great functions

Cons: memory card door is flimsy

Just bought this camera from PriceRitePhoto.com. Quick and pleasant to deal with. The camera is full of great features. Scanning nine thumbnail images at a time is really handy.
Deleting a image is not real intuitive but otherwise a great camera.
