    My first digital camera

    Pros: 6x optical zoom,compact size,high ISO 800

    Cons: lack of image stabilization

    Great camera even better than I had hoped for,This being my first digital camera the A700 has all the the things that I was looking for in a camera. Before I decided on this model I also considered the A620 the soon to be released S3IS. I read other ...reviews and decided on the A700 because it has a 6x zoom compared to the A620's 4x and higher ISO rating of 800 v.s 400 for the A620. The reason why I chose the A700 over the S3IS was because it had not bin released yet and also it was a little bit bigger than I would like for a camera to take everywere with me. I have taken over 300 pictures with my camera and love the picture quality and compact size and features of this model.I travel alot and this is a perfect camera to take along. Read more Less

    My first Canon

    Pros: DIGIC2 system excellent, zoom x6 nice

    Cons: Soft colors, soft picture, in auto cannot use my colors

    I had a C300 Olympus for quite a while and i am still happy and wanted to upgrade to higher spec model and so i have choosen the Canon A700. When i bought it the pictures on LCD looked good and i was happy. When i downloaded my pictures on the PC the... pictures on screen looked very soft in sharpness and color was dull. Trees foliage need a lot of sharpening from pc and come good. To improve picture need to go away from auto into aperture priority and scale up the saturation and sharpness. There are artefacts quite visible in roof tiles. Exposure is rather dark. To get correct focus need to go manual focus but cannot see the LCD in daylight, so...! I called Canon support and said that i should take it back for a replacement so i took it back to the store and im still waiting for the decision of the store keeper...! Read more Less

    Auto-shoot or manual, it's your choice

    Pros: Great photos on automatic, but manual features, too

    Cons: Lack of image stabilization, slow flash recovery

    I have pictures of a daylily I took with this camera on my computer at work. You can see the detail in the pollen grains on the stamens. Colors are clear, sharp. This camera is for a wide variety of user levels. Beginners will love the out-of-the-bo...x shooting, advanced users will like the ability to take more control of the pictures they want. Buy a 1GB memory card, the one that comes with it doesn't hold anything. Also, if you do have a problem, locating customer support is harder than the needle in a haystack search. Read more Less

    Pros: 6x zoom, small, good LCD size, tons of features

    Cons: buy a fast SD card - 16M standard is too small

    This is one awesome camera after my old olympus ... this clicks pictures so much faster with a high speed SD card it's really good. the movies come out good too provided you do not zoom in too much. the special features are great and when less t...ech savvy family folks have to use it, it is a snap... The battery life is great and does last as advertized - about 100 shots on two AA alkalines... Some folks may find the picture a bit fuzzy but it does warm the picture and I can tweak it if I want to in post processing on my computer... love it... Read more Less

    happy with what it is

    Pros: lots of features, all the ones i want

    Cons: none that i have discovered

    i have been using this camera for 3+years, and am very happy with it. some people have complained about the picture quality of it, but seriously, if you want super hi quality photos spend a couple thousand and get a digital SLR. this camera is more t...han enough for a "point and shoot." plus the 6x optical zoom is awesome to have, considering dinky 3x is the norm. the functionality of it is great, intuitive to use in manual and other settings, and the video is surprisingly good for camera. i am very satisfied with this camera for what it is, but do plan on getting an digSLR at some point to take it to the next level.     Pros: Good Zoom

    Cons: Just OK

    Canon PowerShot A700 is not AWESOME! Camera, but the same time is great camera without any fault, A700 is good camera for Quality and some of other features, but not good camera for Very Clear images, because I try this camera and some of images not ...that clear (I change the sittings but the same) so the camera is not bad, even i love it. A700 is a good Camera. Read more Less
