Pros: Very affordable

Cons: Battery life

I've had the camera for 4 months as of this review. You can basically take it out the box as a beginner, and ready to start shooting within 10minutes once you read the basic instructions. But why not take full advantage of what it has to offer. T...he full manual is on a CD ROM which you need to download. I've used just about every single feature this camera has to offer. Several preset scene modes, and what I like most is the ability to shoot manually. I like the display overlay options that include a grid for "rule of thirds". Matter of fact I leave that option "on". For night photography, or dark lighting situations there will be a slight delay between shots, especially if the flash is used. The camera does have image stabilization built in, but would recommend a tripod for the night shots. And yes, it mounts easily on a standard tripod. The camera is lightweight, but not a "slim" flat body. Not a problem for me... matter of fact I can tuck it inside my pants pocket. It does NOT come with a carry ing case, so I'm using a leather pouch case from an old pair of sunglasses. I can still fit the camer a in there and tuck it into my pants. I like how it's small enough so you can shoot discreetly if need be. Menu options and function keys become second nature once you use the camera long enough. And I guess most important... I've received so many compliments on the quality of the pictures this camera takes. This is my first digital camera, and when finances permit, I can guarantee you that I will be selecting a Canon SLR model,for even more professional photos.(Mainly to have more control over depth of field, and shutter speeds) All photos in my photostream are shot exclusively with the A470. I even left in the earlier pics when I was familiarizing myself with the camera, so you can get an idea of how good alot of those pictures came out, even with just 1 week's basic knowledge of the camera.
