    Lyrics prove what the beats don't...

    Canibus can be seen as the 50 Cent of the mid to late-90s. He can tear people up, diss them, chew, then spit them out. And he's been known for his winning freestyles. After being signed onto Universal (who would sign Nelly two years later), he wa...s a rap poet set for superstardom. One problem though, do listeners prefer insightful, sci-fi like, hip-hop poetry? Or do they prefer street-wise hip-hop that bashes politics rather than trying to figure it out or dig into it? That's probably why Canibus' first album (despite entering in Billboard 200's top 5) flopped. And ever since then, there hasn't been a speedy recovery for Canibus. His first album has lyrics that could be recited in some masterpiece theatre, but the beats are too strange, too un-flowing, or just absent (for example "Hype-nitis" and "Buckingham Palace"). The real attention grabbers here are "Niggonometry," "Get Retarded," and best of all "Second Round K.O." probably one of the best disses (aimed at LL Cool J) to come out in years (not quite as great as 2Pac and Biggie). Altogether though, Canibus has interest points to make (especially on "Channel Zero"), and expresses himself lyrically in no ways rappers has ever done in years.     This album is very underrated. Canibus is without a doubt the illest lyricist alive. The more you listen to this album, the better the beats sound. Awsome lyrics. Very good album. No one can out-battle this MC. Especially not that little queer Eminem.... Eminem's commercial style doesn't stand a chance. Check it out. Read more Less

    This album displays some horrible beats. It's just a waste of true lyricism. The only good songs are "Partiots" and "Nigganometry". Don't buy this CD, get his 2nd album.

    basically thats it. he used to be a tight mc, until that album came out. it was ok at first, but i noticed it really didnt have much replay value. the beats were pretty boring. hip rock?its a shame cause i used to think he was better than dmx, but bo...y was i wrong. canibus is so under the radar. hes deep underground now. deeper than a midget in quicksand. deeper than a midget on his knees. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.maybe he needs a new direction to follow.     Canibus delivers grea lyrics to sometimes boring beats , but canibus shows why he is a great rapper , one of the original members of wu tang, masters in chemistry this brotha has brains and lyrics to prove it

    Although i will agree this album did lack production , canibus reigns supreme over his peers with tight lyrics , with songs like nigganometry and i honor you this album definetly deserved more respect , if you weren't impressed with his debut check ...out his new release which is slammin from all aspects , but i do recomend you to pick up canibus album and support one of the original members of the wu-tang Read more Less
