    Platforms & Spandex Backstage

    By suzanneb  Jun 9, 2008

    Pros: Amazing

    Cons: Food Backstage

Yes, I was there. I'm getting ready for a yard sale and dig out my anvil brief case, BAM! Passes and pictures. I was a guest of a CBS record dude and saw it all. Met amazing people, and had a heck of a time walking in the dirt in 6 inch platforms.... Did we really wear those things? Best artist by far was Carlos Santana. Being just feet away from him and feeling the passion of his guitar still gives me goose bumps. The 70's will live on for us who were there. I haven't been to a gathering like that again. And for us that were there, don't forget the magic of those 2 days. It was "SPECIAL", you know what I'm talking about. Dream On! Read more Less

I was there and escaped death

    By Bill  Jan 4, 2002

This CD has a sampling of some of the artists that were there, but it left off their best songs. Also, notable in their absence are Bob Welch and Foreigner. Some of Fleetwood Mac was there supporting former member Bob Welch, as well. The tracks in...cluded are worth a listen. Carlos Santana sounds great no matter what he plays. A couple of Heart's better songs showcase Ann Wilson's vocal ability and her sister Nancy's guitar. I remember having to walk miles along the jammed freeway to get there because I got tired of waiting in the bus. It was a cool cloudy day, but the sun came out when Ted Nugent began to play. I made it to the front of the stage by the time Aerosmith played in the early evening. I came close to being crushed to death from the crowd pushing toward the stage. I was lifted off my feet and I was unable to breathe. I guess Steven Tyler saved my life that day by pleading with the crowd to back away from the stage. Many thanks! Read more Less

    I WAS THERE!!!MAN,I WAS THERE!!!

    By JaminJim  Apr 25, 2000

What a wonderfull day! To bad they don't have Bob Welch or Foreigner on the cd. They did a great job! Santana,Dave Mason, heart all put on nice afternoon shows. And just made the day go by smooth as pie. Lots of good smoke. Plenty of food&drinks. Ted ...Nugent and Aerosmith were the big draws for this show Ted just was wild as ever.Aerosmiths sound system sucked. They sound a hell of a lot better on this cd then they did there.Trust me on this one. But the big surprise was Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush! No one knew they were going to be there, untill that day! I think the promoters didn't know who they were. Maybe everyone would leave quietly? Have you ever seen 200,000 people rush a stage!? Unbelievable!! If you can find a video of it. Check it out! It was a great day!! PS,Rubicon? didn't remember them, myself. But someone told me they turned into Nightranger a few years later.True or false? I don't know. Read more Less
