Sheryl Crow is the best female artist out today. All her 4 albums rock, and they all won Grammys(Well, C'mon C'mon just came out, but I know it will). Sheryl rocks, and uses her potential to her fullest!

    Wasted Potential

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 26, 2002

To me, Sheryl Crow will always be a could've been.

She clearly has the potetial to be an influential female artist. I wasn't fond of her debut album, Tuesday Night Music Club, but I thought it showed lots of potential and I expected her to grow as a musician and a songwriter.

Her second, self titled album was better. Although not necesarily a strong album, she was getting better and writting some better songs. I thought "If It Makes You Happy" was a very good song.

But then her 3rd album, the Globe Sessions, came out. She was regressing. Lyricaly it was stupid and musically bland.

Now she has put out C'mon C'mon and has clearly lost her way. Although it was a big hit, Soak Up the Sun was nothing more than Beach Boys influenced ear candy. Steve McQueen is a dumb song too.

Sheryl Crow just frustrates me. I know she has it in her. She shown signs of it in the past. But she sells her self out to be commercial. That's her downfall.

A bit of this, a bit of that. Sheryl did a fresh, incredible album. May be not all the songs will be major hits, but the whole album deserves the five stars.

What?? To say if we like this album, then our musical taste is going in the wrong opinion, is a stupid thing to say. Obviously, more people like this album than don't, and it's SURE not pop. GREAT album, ignore the person below me.

    C'mon C'mon

By Yahoo! Shopping User  May 1, 2002

The verdict is in. Sheryl has absolutely sold her soul to "pop" and roll. Notice I said Pop and Roll and NOT Rock and Roll. If you consider electronic drums and synthesized programming to be a part of rock and roll, then this album should be right up your alley. This album is certainly more fun to listen to, unlike her 1996 disaster. But folks, this is not the direction the Sheryl should have gone. Lackluster lyrical qualities aside, this album is not contemporary at all. For radio standards, it certainly is, but of course there is very little that tickles my fancy on rock radio anymore. That being said, this album is the leader of the pack, but it is too commercial, and wayyy to clever for its own good. If you really liked Tuesday Night Music Club, and enjoy this album immensely, your musical and lyrical soul is not in its right place. Keep searching...

Get ready for summer with Sheryl

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 22, 2002

The sun starts to shine in your head immediately when you hear this cd. The Globe Sessions was a bit moody and dark, but this album is sunshine bright.
Although there are still sad meanings behind C'mon C'mon, The Weather Channel, Over You, It's Only Love. The rocking songs like Steve McQueen, Soak Up The Sun and Lucky Kid keep the album in balance.

    Great!

Sheryl Crow has released one more pearl…many people have said that maybe it’s not the best she’s given us so far, but she said “it’s the best I could do now”… I believe this is one of her best CDs… she keeps getting better as a producer. Not to say how great she has become playing any kind of instrument. Here are my favorite tracks:
C’mon C’mon: The harmonies in the chorus are gorgeous. I really missed the accordion (when she plays it in concert, she makes it the instrument any rock concert would be incomplete without). I love the 12 strings guitar intro and it reminds me of something, but I haven’t been able to figure out what yet. The rhythm of the song is vigorous and the refrain makes you want to scream with her.
Weather Channel: here is actually where the lyrics mean so much to me…I don’t want anyone to be sad, but do you know what it feels like being? …something you can’t really even try to explain, and something I don’t wish to anyone… there’s a line which sums everything up though “I got friends they’re waiting for me to… come outside and join the human race, but I don’t feel so human” …and “it’s just sugar, just a pill to make me happy” it’s something that I’ve thought about so many times during that dark period of my life…she pictured the whole feeling so well. EmmyLou Harris’ voice, then, is so perfect for this atmosphere. Both lyrics and music are poignant, moving.
Abilene: when I first heard part of this song, I thought it would have become one of my favorites, and here it is… Natalie Maines’ vocals fit so perfectly with Sheryl’s. There’s something “countryish” in the tune that I really like.

I like them all, even Lucky Kid, whose refrain I didn’t really love the first time, and I can’t really skip any of them ‘cause I’m tired of it… I thought I’d have not loved You’re an original…I don’t know why… I think it’s a great rock song, and the thing I most like about Sheryl is when she is sarcastic in her songs…this one is perfect. Safe and sound: this version is so much better than the one we heard on Tribute to Heroes! So is It’s only love…I’d like to hear Stevie’s version sung by Sheryl though.
I don’t know how you determine whether one album is the best of someone’s career… I’ve always said to myself the one would be when I can listen to it without skipping any song… I used to skip We do what we can on TNMC, The book in SC, and Am I getting through in TGS … so maybe this is the one… I can’t make up my mind yet though…
I think Sheryl is a really thoughtful and prepared producer.

Definitely an album to buy and listen to, many times, to better appreciate it.

    A Kinder, Gentler Sheryl Crow

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 18, 2002

This is a very difficult review to write because I do really like this album, although honestly I do feel it is more a four and a half than a five. However, I can see how some people, even people who normally like Sheryl Crow might not. On a brighter note I can also see it ripping some radio time from the mouseketeers and their following, and that has to be a good thing.

By a certain point in their career every artist has one album that represents the highlight of their artistic achievment. It is not that the rest of their music is bad, or even average, it's just that that one album completely comes together in a way that makes the listener tingle. For Trisha Yearwood it was Real Live Woman; for Mary Chapin Carpenter it was Stones in the Road; for Rodney Crowell it was Houston Kid; for Sheryl Crow it was The Globe Sessions. C'mon C'mon lacks, more than anything else the voicals of The Globe Sessions, although to be fair The Globe Sessions is possibly the strongest female rock album of all time, and I do not believe that anything could top the vocal track on "Crash and Burn." Like Time*Sex*Love this album falls just short of the (admittedly) high mark set by its predessor, however it is not the disappointment that Inside Out was.

That being said, C'mon, C'mon is a very strong album. It takes Sheryl Crow into the California flavored rock of the seventies while still sounding fresh. May was the perfect month to release this sun drenched album. Standouts include the title track whose unbeat tempo provides stellar backdrop to Crow's traditionally strong-yet-hurt lyrics. The Don Henley deut "It's So Easy," almost makes up for his lackluster duet with Trisha Yearwood earlier this year. "Abilene" stays with you as only a Sheryl Crow song can and Weather Channel" remindes us why so many singers request the incomperable Emmilou Harris to back them up in the studio. "Steve McQueen" is a fun follow up to "There Goes the Neighborhood" and "Members Only." Even the otherwise forgettable "You're An Original" is lifted out of the dulldroms by an enjoyable accompaniment from Lenny Kravitz (who I normally do not care for). This is very listenable summer album that you won't be ready to burn by the first of July.

All in all this is another remarkable album from an artist who has listened to and studied enough music to be able to put out four solid albums, each with a distinctive sound. That is an of itself sets Sheryl Crow apart from her competition. And while it is a bit amsuing that she takes a small pot shot "all our pop stars look like porn" while wearing lace pants herself in her liner photos, hell she's fourty, not nineteen. So buy the album and make the small allowances necessariy to forgive the fact that it is not The Globe Sessions, as well as the knowledge that by June 1st "Soak Up the Sun" will be so overplayed you will want to shoot your radio.

Absolutely love it. What an incredible

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 17, 2002

SC is such an incredible talent. I have all of her albums, & believe it or not have just recently come to be a real fan of her music. This album is definitely her best work yet. Sheryl is an incredible talent, and I have so much respect for a musician who can write, prduce, perform, and arrange there own music. Her superior talent is revealed the most in throughout this album. C'mon has a a real laid back groovy kinda rock, & every song is superbly mastered. This album makes you want to sit back, have a beer, and "Soak Up The Sun". It was definitely worth the 3-4 year wait. My favorite track is "Safe and Sound" - alot of power & emotion. I am extremely impressed with this album & I am quite dissapointed when reading some of the critical & biase reviews. Screw'em, this album is a musical masterpiece & should win more Grammy's. Thumbs up to SC.

After a very long time Sheryl Crow has released an album and man what a treat it is!
Its very easy on your ears (unlike her previous album) and makes you wanna go out on a long drive while listening to this great collection of Rock'n'Roll and Hip Hop jingly jangly music.
The duet with Stevie Nicks on the title theme is very harmonious and so is the other duet with Don Henly.
A must for every Sheryl Crow fan. Rather a must for every music lover.
    Great music!!!!!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 16, 2002

This CD is definitely worth the 3 year wait. I have alot of respect for an artist who writes, produces, arranges, & performs their own music. Sheryl is definitely a true musical talent. Even if your not an SC fan you will love this CD. Her voice sounds the best & the music is professionally arranged to perfection. Although her other albums were good this one outshines all of them. She teams up with some real heavy hitters in music that adds to the appeal. My favorite is track 4, "Safe & Sound". She really belts out the tunes and reveals her true talent. I've read a few critic reviews & I am dissapointed that a few are very critical. Screw them, this album is awesome & it is her best work. I admit I haven't been a major SC fan. Until just recently I have gotten into her music & I must say C'mon truly rocks. If album # 1 received a grammy than this one is a definite #1. It was worth the long wait & the buk ($). Anybody who has an appreciation for music go buy this CD, you will not be dissapointed.

I caught a few of the tracks on the internet, and found that they met my (lofty) expectations. I've been a big fan of Sheryl since I was about 12, and think that this has the potential to line up with my current favorite album (Sheryl Crow).
