    Pros: Awesome Project

    Cons: None

Byron Cage has been around for a long time with his singing group Purpose, but his first self-titled solo project "Byron Cage" really put him into the eyes of many. This is a must have project for anyone who considers themselves a worshippe...r. Byron being a worshipper himself really shows it on this project with songs such as "That's What You Are To Me", "It Is To You", and "Glory To Your Name". One of the cd's big hits is "The Presence Of The Lord Is Here", which is just amazingly written, produced and sung. One of my favorite tracks is No.2 "Magnify". It has a nice mellow groove at the beginning and just opens up at the end with a bold sound. Byron's background singers really contribute to the great sound of this and every other track on this project. They have the perfect sound that accompany Byron wonderfully. "Never To Busy" is a great song where Byron just gets loose and praises the Lord all by himself. I especially love the "Byron Cage Medley" with songs such as "Glory Song", Yet Praise Him", and "Shabach", it's really a great medley. This is just a great project from beginning to end. Byron Cage really out did himself on this solo project and I know there is more to come from the Prince of Praise. Read more Less

Stellar Award nominee Byron Cage released his first solo album in February 2003. Recorded live at ~the New Birth Cathedral in Atlanta, GA, the self-titled project was produced by labelmate Kurt Carr and features the writing talents of Cage, Carr, and Donnie McClurkin. The gospel album is high in energy and blends the styles of RB, pop, and traditional gospel. Songs include "It Is to You," "There Is a Name," and "What You Are." With this project, Cage hopes "...that the Lord take[s] this music to the masses. I don't like to think of myself and these songs as being in a box, for only one culture of people. I know that when we get to heaven there [aren't] going to be separate sections for Asians, Latinos, Caucasians, and African-Americans."
