    One song stands out

    I have always enjoyed Steve Wariner's work. Though most of this album's songs aren't terrific (they range from OK to good), one song really stands out in my mind. "Holes in the Floor of Heaven" should rank as one of the best country songs of the past... 20 years or so. The song came out in February 1998, at a time when my hometown was still mourning the deaths of two beautiful teen-age girls in a car accident near Iowa City, IA, just a few weeks earlier (one of them was the homecoming queen of her senior class, the other her best friend). "Holes" is a song that truly meant a lot to me and the community where I hail from, that loved ones such as these two girls can still be "watchin' over you and me" from heaven -- even though they're sadly no longer with us.
