I like the title, I think it's very
Pros: Almost everything about this movie is a pro.
Cons: I didn't like Pike and Buffy's hair-dos and outfits for the dance.
I loved this movie so much. Luke Perry was so totally hot and I hated the part where him and Kristy Swanson kissed. I want him for myself. However, Kristy was an excellent actress in this movie and I've watched it about 3 times a night for 2 nights now because I love it so much. I would love to get the soundtrack also. They could've given both Luke and Kristy better outfits for the dance and I hated their hair in the dance scene also. Both their hair looks better wild instead of slicked back. But over all the movie was really good or else I wouldn't have watched it that many times.

Buffy the original movie is OK the series is far better and the two are completely different, BUT this is the beginning of the saga thats is continued just in a different way on the small screen.

Good movie and story. I really liked Kristy Swanson as Buffy, but later this made enough money to make a TV series..than eventually made a new star (Sarah Michell Gellar).

I saw the movie of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" when it first came out on VHS, years before the TV show debuted. I thought it was cute and fun, and I liked the idea of a chick who kicked butt (this was before Xena too).
I don't think it's fair to compare Kristy Swanson's Buffy to Sarah Michelle Gellar's. Yes, I vastly prefer the TV show -- it's one of my all-time favorite shows, definitely "must-see TV" for me -- but if you take Swanson's performance on its own, it's pretty good! She's got the smartass thing down, and she is fun to watch.
Rutger Hauer is a bit stiff as the master vampire, but Paul Reubens (aka Pee Wee Herman) is great as his servant, and Donald Sutherland is perfect as Merrick, Buffy's first watcher.
Joss Whedon wrote the screenplay for the film, and he is the driving force behind the TV series. I think it's safe to say the TV series is much more what he had in mind than the movie was, but that doesn't make the movie total crap. Compare it to the TV show, and it'll always come up short. this is a great show (and stopr saying angel is SO cute...hes not in this movie) this came out then the show was made...this is an awsome movie...dont compare it to the show they have nothing in common other than buffy's name other than that they are totally different...im so gonna buy this movie for DVD, plus its a comedy its supposed to be stupid thats what makes it funny

I like watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer because of the romantic love between her and Angel. Even though he is a vampire she loves him and even though she is a vampire slayer he loves her! I never miss watching Buffy... even though i am only on the second sezone!!!!

The buffy the Vampire Slayer 1992 movie should not b compared to the Sarah Michelle Gellar T.v project as the two have been greatly disanced from each other. While a flop in the cinemas the comedy/horror has achieved a cult following. Following the early adventures of Buffy and Pike, we see her fight the king of vampires while under the watchful eye of merrik who sees her as a "unique" slayers who refuses to stick to tradition. While almost achieving B movie standards, the film does have genuanly funny scenes. If ur looking for a movie to watch on a Friday night, this is a great choice. If however you expect the same quality as the television show, avoid this product!!!!

This movie is great. It has all the cheese and camp one could ask for in the early ninetees/late eightees. Without this movie, there would be no hit tv show. The whole point of the movie was to show how responsibilities in life are what make people people. That explains the entire reason for the lack of closeness of the main character to her friends. Kristy is great. And remember, this movie is spun on stereotypes. Hence the name, Buffy. She is not meant to be a smart "chic" and so the character is played exactly how it is supposed to be in the movie. The spun off series is more real so that it can last more than an hour total. So this movie is perfect for its time and therefore one of my favorites.

characterization as a vapid cheerleader is a caricature and her buffy is too shallow. Also she can sense the vamps with PMS which is plain silly. It is a wonder that out of such trash was produced a magnificent, magical tv show. If you want a better retelling of the origin, read the comic 3parter published by Dark Horse comics. I love the movie. It's the perfect comedy relief! It's cleverly written like when Buffy tells Pee-Wee Herman's (Paul Rueben)character "to clap" after Pike got rid of his arm. Or when starts sings "feelings"... I love that TNT calls it a new movie classic.

This movie was so awesome that it lead to a hit TV show. Buffy the Vampire Slayer had one of my favorites Pike or Luke Perry who now plays on 90210. He is an all time hottie. This movie was made in 1992 but still has an effect on everyone. Since the show made a hit this one is even better. It is funny and sometimes scary more suspensful. I recommend this movie to you.

Buffy Summers(Kristy Swanson) Is the popualist girl in A L.A highschool until Merrick (Donald Sutherland) tells her that she is the chosen one. She finds it hard to belive but she finally clicks. She starts training. When The vampires start feeding. Helped by Pike (Luke Perry) Have to kill them. Merrick is killed by the main vampire so her and Pike are on there.

This is a hilarious film
although it may be a bit cheesy it it funny.
It is supposed to be funny, so make the most of it.
If you are into Buffy and vampires and comedy then this is the film for you.
My favourite part is when this one vampire dude is dieing, but he just woooooon't die.
It's only a four as it's cheesy.

Right, the movie was alright, it was funny and stuff but Joss Whedon's tv show is better by miles. It's more realistic and also has loads more jokes and funny lines in it. Sarah Michelle Gellar is really funny and a better slayer than Kristy Swanson, not that she was a bad slayer, but in the tv show buffy has a thing going on with a vampire who ens up leaving and making his own series, and like it's just way better. I love David Boreanaz in the tv show, James Marster is soo funny and makes the whole thing funny and buffy comes to the rescue and the rest of the cast r funny all the time!

I must admit this is one of my favorites parshily because of David Arquette( The greates actor!)But even with out his outstanding performance as benny i still give the movie 5 stars. I was compeled to make this review as a response to one writen by another critic, Hollietu. If you read this i felt the need to ask you what made you think Ben Affleck was in it? Im possitive hes not(I cant find him in a cast listing or the cretits), maybe he is. If so could you please let me know who he played. Iv watched the movie over 100 time( no joke) and can resite evey word so i would like to know where Ben can be found. Thank you.

The Buffy movie is quite good, though I must say Joss Weedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer is better than his movie. Even better than Buffy I think is Angel. The T.V. shows are more like reality.....

It was ok but I really do prefer the T.V series I think Sarah Michelle Gellar really does make a better Buffy.Not that there is any thing wrong with Kristy Swanson, I mean with all due respect an every thing.I think that Ben Affleck was ok but maybe a lot of poeple would diagree with me ,but there we go.It is a bit old and I think that most people who haven't seen it may actually prefer the T.v series and like the new actors.
