A fluid and versatile improvising quartet, Bridge61 was formed in Chicago in 2004 by reed player Ken Vandermark, bassist Nate McBride, drummer Tim Daisy and clarinetist Jason Stein. Vandermark, McBride and Daisy had all worked together in various ensembles before, with Vandermark and Daisy dating their collaboration back to 2001 and the groups Vandermark5, Crisis Ensemble and the Sound In Action Trio. Bridge61's debut album, Journal, was released in 2006 by Atavistic.
