    true rock and roll

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 11, 2001

with the dominance of Bizkit-style rap-rock in the world of rock and roll the past few years, what a pleasure it was purchasing, and listening to this album by the Wallflowers. I loved Bringing Down the Horse, and hoped that Breach would also be a bi...g hit commercially, try to get back a little bit of a foothold on the charts, but it seems that for right now real rock and roll is dead. It's trying too hard to capture the rap audience that it's losing it's roots. then here you have an album that is old school folk rock. deep, soulfull lyrics, inredible instrumentals, and Jakob Dylan's voice, which is as unmistakable and enthralling as that of his legendary father. This is a group that may be the last hope from true rock and roll in a musical landsape dominated by teen pop, rap, and rap-metal sounds. Read more Less

    Please!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 7, 2001

...pleeeease don't compare The Wallflowers with Matchbox 20 and the Goo-Goo Dolls. I hate to say it, but I feel as if The Wallflowers are one of the true rock and roll bands alive today. When I say Rock and Roll, I mean the old school style and songw...riting recipes with today's flavor. I mean, what pop band today includes the slide guitar on the bulk of their songs? Wallflowers still incorporate the slide, and one of my FAVORITES, the organ!! And they don't just use the organ as a background layer....it's used as one of the focal instruments of the band. Without Rami Jaffee, their sound is just not the same...anyway...I just wanted to put in my two cents and ask that The Wallflowers not be put in the same musical catagory as today's pop artists...In my opinion, these guys belong in comparisons with bands like The Doors and The Beatles. Just saw the Wallflowers last night in concert. They opened up for John Mellencamp. They put on a really good show. If you get a chance to go, I guarentee you will enjoy the show.

    Amazing!!!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 21, 2001

Wow,, since the Horse I haven´t heard such a great cd. In continuence of their latest cd The Wallflowers manages to keep up their original sound and amazing lyrics. Songs like "Sleepwalker" and "Some flowers bloom dead" are simply great and outstand...ing modern rock. I can´t seem to praize the flowers enough though, but if you cannot wait for more great stuff, try out some of the other great bands representing modern american rock like the Goo Goo Dolls or Matchbox 20. A Great Album

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 23, 2001

I really enjoyed this album. I love Jakob Dylan's voice and the lyrics. I won't say too much because I'm certain that most of it has already been said, but I think that I would reccomend this CD to anyone.

the 1st 4 songs on the brach album was brilliant,& i gotta say the sleepwalker was the best track there....what wit his low dusky voice & all...the rest of the songs are tinged wit a slight hint of meloncholy but it does well...overall it's a total f...olk-rock infusion.great if u do dig them & their horse album. better than Horse

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 20, 2001

Much more nuanced songwriting on this album (e.g., "Hand Me Down" and "Up From Under")than on Bringing Down the Horse. A cd you can listen to over and over again without getting tired of it.

    wonderfully artistic album

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 6, 2001

While I enjoyed Bringing Down the Horse immensly, this album has a ring of sophistication and style to it that you'll rarely hear. With a variety of styles, it'll make rockers and baladeers happy!

Re: Same here. Bringing Down.. was bett

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 17, 2001

I agree that Breach was a bit mellow for me.It's not just mellow, it just doesn't have thatearthy feeling you get when you listen to Bringing down the horse. I'm still listening to Bringing down the horse, but Breach is already on the shelf after a ...few listens. I do like Sleepwalker, Letters from the Wasteland, and also Babybird!! :) But I still miss songs like One Headlight. That was a masterpiece. Read more Less
