When they're not skanking to the ska-punk sound in Five Iron Frenzy, Reese Roper (guitar/vocals), Dennis Culp (guitar), and Keith Hoerig (bass) compose a swirly, spacedelic style in Brave Saint Saturn. They like to say they're forerunners of "astro-rock," so Brave Saint Saturn's eclectic, noisy mix of turntables, strings, keyboards, and accordions goes for the space-pop thing. Sarabellum issued the trio's debut, So Far from Home, in early 2000. Two years later, Brave Saint Saturn signed with Seattle's Tooth Nail and released The Light of Things Hoped For several months after inking the deal.
