Tremendous headphones if you have $300

By Tom  Nov 30, 2005 | 13 out of 13 found this Bose QuietComfort 2 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones review helpful

Pros: Great bass. Great sound. Good noise-blocking/
    cancelling.

Cons: The noise-cancelling is underwhelming when people are talking

They are pricey, if you spend a lot of time with them, they are definitely worth it. The sound is really great and the bass is very deep, though it does have a signature "Bosey" sound to it since it has to employ acoustic tricks to replicat...e low-frequencies at high volumes. No one around you will hear a think when you listen to them. You will still hear people talking around you, but they do remove ambient pretty well. I would definitely recommend these for the music, not to block out noise though. They are very comfortable and durable and when I broke part of the headband, Bose sent me a new pair. They require AAA, but they burn through them slowly and with rechargables its not the least bit burdensome. Read more Less

Not bad for cancelling office noise

By Yvonne French  Dec 7, 2005 | 4 out of 4 found this Bose QuietComfort 2 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones review helpful

Pros: comfortable, works for most noise-cancelling

Cons: can still hear office conversations, expensive

I bought these headphones because I work in a somewhat noisy office environment where it is hard to concentrate. They do a pretty decent job of cancelling out office conversations but they definitely don't remove the noise completely. I've he...ard that they work better for cancelling out noise that has a constant tone, for example airplane engines, but I have not tried this yet. The sound quality is great - I generally use them to listen to MP3s from my Yahoo! Music Unlimited online service. They are extremely comfortable to wear. However, at $299, I think they're a little over-priced. Read more Less

    Dead after 6 trips

    Pros: Polite service center

    Cons: Left channel stopped working

I had used the Bose Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones on international travel,- About once every other month for 13 months. The left channel just stopped working. For $300, you would think Bose could care more. They didn't. I gave Bose plenty... of chances to make it right. Sorry to flame, but it is important for others to know. Read more Less

    Pros: Excellent sound

    Cons: None

I have had the QC2 headphones for two years and would never go back to standard ones again. I love the way the music envelopes you when you are listening to music you love. The Bose headphones lock out the world as long as you keep them on...and the ......music playing...It's a high price to pay for a pair of headphones, yes...but it's an investment that you will not regret if you are looking for the last pair you'll ever have to buy. After two years of heavy use, one of the cup mountings broke and by then the warranty had expired. I contacted Bose and they offered me a great trade in deal. This was my third purchase from them and they have taken care of me every time. Read more Less

    So glad I bought them

By Michael  Oct 11, 2006 | 1 out of 1 found this Bose QuietComfort 2 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones review helpful

    Pros: Excellent quality

    Cons: Price

Like most people not in the music industry, I think I can get away with sub-par headphones. I mean do I really need the industrial strength high-end studio quality headphones for $1000 ? I listened to all the audiophiles bash Bose as nothing m...ore than marketing... Personally, it took a number of months of drooling at the Bose store, trying out every other headphone set I could get my hands on (Noise Cancelling or not), and just dealing with various Sony or Magnavox brands that were "pretty good, and really cheap". Finally I bought the Bose QuietComfort 2. First off, I'd like to say, you are getting the Lexus of headphones. They treat you like a first class customer all the way. With next day shipping, a nice case, multiple cords (in case the cord to the headphone has any problems, you have a backup. This isn't because they are cheap, it's just a common problem if you take your headphones everywhere.) which is really nice because most other headphones I've tried, if the cord gets damaged, your headphones become worthless. Now the best part. The sound quality is outstanding. The noise cancellation is exceptional (no low end static buzz when they are turned on like other brands [Sharper Image]) the clarity and depth of the music makes you want to listen all day long. Which I do. The over-the-ear design (rather than on, or pressing your ear back) adds to the comfort and wearability. I can't say enough good things about this product. If you listen to music for even a few hours a day you won't regret buying these. Try them out at a Bose store to see what I mean. (P.S. The CON of Price, is only because I'm a cheap guy! The reality is, it is well worth the investment) Read more Less
