    Don't Drink The Kool Aid People

    Pros: Killer Sound

    Cons: Proper Placement/ Needs proper power amp.

    People, I first heard a set of these speakers in 1978 in Okinawa Japan. From the first time I heard them, I was in heaven and knew that someday I would buy me a pair. It took me 18 years but I did get a pair this month and I am still in love with the... way they preform. They make me wanna play all my old cassettes and albums, because they recreate sound like nothing I have ever heard. I bought a pair of Bose 4.2s in 1987 and I have them and the black 901s series six together in a room that is 20 by 60 and they kick serious butt. I had to get a 200 watt power amp and hook them up through a pre-amp/power amp system! I run the 4.2s off another amp. The music is crisp and clean. You will not be dissapointed if you purchase these. They are very special and will make you turn off that tv and tune in to some satilite radio. Bose 901's ROX! Read more Less

    Pros: Powerful sound that fills the room

    Cons: difficult to set-up properly

    I've worked in the music industry for over 10 years and have heard studio systems that ran in the 100s of thousands of dollars, so I believe I have a well trained ear for what is good reproduction. I bought a pair of 901 series VI off ebay for 40...0$, was very careful in placing them in my home. I have a 12' ceiling in a room 22' by 25'. I decided to hang the speakers 2' from the ceiling placing the rear at 18"s from the wall and the speakers are 7' apart. After the first auditon of the 901's I new I would need a sub woofer to make up for the lack in base response, but I was very pleased with the low mids, mids and low highs. The speakers do lack in the 250 htz down and 10,000khz upper end, so I'm adding some book self to cover the highs. The thing I really love about the 901's is the full sonic experience they give you. I do believe in the direct reflecting concept and with the addition of a sub woofer for base and bookshelf for the highs I believe I can rival speakers systems costing 100's or thousands of dollars more. The key to the 901's is having the right room and placement to really appreciate how goods these speakers can sound. Read more Less
