BOSE SUCKS!!!

Cons: Issues, issues and HORRIBLE tech support
We have had our BOSE 321 fro 2 years. It started having issues being unable to read newer DVD's. It locks up and show "unable to read disc." I called the BOSE tech support and the guy absolutely sucked. The flat rate to have it seen by a local tech is $150. DO NOT BUY BOSE. Go get a cheaper better quality SONY or Magnavox. This is the worst sytem I have ever owned. I wouldn't recommend this to the Taliban!

Cons: Doesn't play all movies! Shuts down and needs reprogramming.
Several calls to BOSE has not produced results. They gave me a "new programming disc", telling me this would fix the problem of not working with all movies. (Some movies will shut the Bose 3-2-1 down and not play. My $40 Magnavox machine plays the same movies well!) Bose now tells me I'll have to pay $150 to get a new computer upgrade to play all movies. This is after paying around $1000 for this machine. Never again will I buy their products!

We bought one of these some time ago. I am sure it is an older model now. The DVD player failed before long (but out of warranty.) We continued using it for a while. Then my son wanted it for a turntable amplifier. We had just retired it, so we gave it to him. The base unit sparked and nearly caught on fire. It cost be $1,000 and I can't even give it away in good conscience.

I purchased mine a year ago and have not experienced any of the negative issues reported.
In a small TV room, great sound for a two speaker system. My brother a professional playing and recording percussionist was impressed with it. I am looking into another one for the bedroom since I am spoiled in the TV room the bedroom new TV sounds like portable radio.
DVD has never failed me in play, ejecting or quality output.
Reported issues - may I suggest cleaning your player and the rental and children's DVD's before inserting. Also, perhaps notice if your children are rough housing the player.....not that they're destructive ....they're just kids.Was this review helpful? Yes - Nohorrible

This thing is JUNK!!! I bought it to save space. I didn't have a place to easily install rear speakers or a center channel speaker. I heard this thing at Best Buy and thought it would work. After paying $1,000.00, I quickly discovered it wouldn't play half of my DVD collection or DVD's I rented. Just keeps displaying "Reading" on the main unit. Other times it would constantly get stuck while watching a moving that did load. And other times it won't eject so I have to cycle the power on it. In closing, I lost a lot of money.Don't make the same MISTAKE!!!! Walk away and get someting else...

I bought this system, the dvd receiver is junk and will break on you just after the guaranteed manufacturer warranty. Bose will ask for money just to look at it.

Value-wise, it's the worst electronics I've ever bought!. 90% of the time the store-bought DVDs won't play, display says "format not supported". DVDs get stuck in machine. Service was terrible! I will never by a Bose product again and will advise all I know to avoid them as well. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!.

If you get one of these Bose 321 systems you will learn a new phrase, cannot read disk. This is the second one I have had problems with. Oh ya, when you get the error message, "cannot read disk" it will not allow you to eject it either.

Very satisfied with the Bose 321 system. Fits any size room and still puts out quality sound. The ability to use one remote is great, programmed remote to also control the television. I would recommend it to anyone, thanks Bose.

my friends music etc. etc. I clean the laser about every 3 weeks. This unit has performed admirably. We have not had any problems out of this unit. The only thing I

My 1st Bose 321 unit had trouble with playing DVD's and within a month it totally died (no audio/video). I got a replacement 321 unit and again it had trouble with playing DVD's. So...Bose sent a firmware CD and it might have helped a little. Now it will not play any DVD's or CD's at all. Bose's answer was that I send the product (my money!!) to their repair place and then wait to get it back in 2-3 weeks. That is BS. Why did I buy this????

We just returned our Bose 3-2-1 GSX system. When it works properly, it works great, but getting it to work properly is the key. We bought it for the features, sound and brand and returned it for itâs quality.
Though the sound is great, some remark that it has negligible mid-tones. This is correct, but didnât affect our enjoyment at all. The sound is great and the simulated surround is excellent. You have to set the small speakers so the inner edges focus on the center of the listening area. The subwoofer can be anywhere, but we placed it under the TV. The late-1980âs-era LCD display cannot be shut off and doesnât have a clock display.
The problems started when it couldnât read some tracks on some CDs we had. Then, when we tried to load CDs into the internal HDD, the system crashed. It kept powering on & off. Unplugging and doing a hard reset didnât work.
On the plus side for Bose, we got through to tech support almost immediately, and this is on a Sunday morning. Of course, the tech had never heard of this issue, and he said they would send a replacement main-unit. I said that I would just bring it in to our Bose store and swap it out.
Before I left, I read many reviews, including those here, and decided to return the whole thing. My recommendation is if you end up buying this, save the packing materials.
Itâs astounding that Bose would let a product which has issues like this out the door. I hope they can figure things out before they loose their reputation.Was this review helpful? Yes - NoA DISAPPOINTMENT FOR THE COST

FOR THE MONEY, THERE ARE BETTER SOUNDING SYSTEMS OUT THERE. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS TO SOME ONE LOOKING FOR A HOME THEATHER SYSTEM. I'D GO WITH A 5 OR 6 SPEAKER SYSTEM, FUNNY THING IS, WHEN I FIRST HEARD THE SYSTEM IN CIRCUIT CITY IT SOUNDED GREAT, WHEN I CONNECTED AT HOME IT WAS A DISAPPOINTMENT.

The only positive I can give is the ease of set up. The sound is no better than any $300.00 system on the market. I should have known better than to think I could truly get surround sound from 2 speakers.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE BOSE 321 AND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN HORRIBLE. THIS IS A WARNING TO ALL WHO FALL FOR ALL THE HYPE.
PROBLEMS WITH THE UNIT...DVD WONT EJECT, MUST BE RESET. VERTICAL LINES WHEN THE PICTURE IS BLACK. DISMAL SOUND...MUST BE TURNED ALL THE WAY UP TO GET ANY KIND OF OOMPH!
THE GUARANTEE STATES, "RISK FREE". WELL, BEFORE I SENT IT BACK, I ASKED BOSE TO SEND ME THE RETURN PRE-PAID SHIPPING LABEL. THEY SENT A NICE MESSAGE THAT INCLUDED THE RA# AND THAT I SHOULD BE PATIENT WITH THE CREDIT BECAUSE THEY ARE RECEIVING SO MANY RETURNS. HMMMMM....WAS THAT A SLIP? I THEN SENT ANOTHER EMAIL ASKING ABOUT THE PRE-PAID LABEL. NOTHING....NO ANSWER. SENT ANOTHER EMAIL...AND ANOTHER...TO A DIFFERENT EMAIL ADDRESS...NOTHING. WELL, THE UNIT IS ON THE WAY BACK...AND I WILL THEN FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE BBB. THIS COMPANY DISGUSTS ME WITH ALL THEIR SUPPOSED CLASS, YET, WON'T EVEN BACK UP THEIR CRAP.

Cons: Service when it broke?
When the system was working and a DVD was not being used, the sound was noticeably out of sync with the cable broadcast. After six months of normal home use, the DVD tray failed to open or close. Think you can take it back to the service department of the store you bought the unit from and have it repaired? Think again. Service is apparently ok if you live in Framingham, MA. My unit was brought in for service in mid July. It is now mid August and the thing still doesn't work.

Pros: Great sound for 2 speakers + sub woofer

This is a great system if you don't want the hassle of a center channel and 4 or more satellite speakers. The sound that this system puts out from just 2 small speakers and a sub-woofer is pretty amazing. My wife and I have it hooked up to a Panasonic 42" plasma EDTV in our bedroom and are very pleased with the performance of this Bose system. Since it's the Series 2 model, the DVD player is now progressive scan. We also have a 5.1 surround sound system (Onkyo receiver and Energy speakers) in our living room and to be honest, I prefer the performance from a true surround sound system as compared to the 3-2-1 system. BUT, as I previously alluded to, unless you've got your walls wired for surround sound, the Bose 3-2-1 GS Series 2 system will give you comparable sound without the hassle of all the wiring and additional speakers. The downside is that I believe this system is just a bit on the high side with regards to price. Bottom line: If our bedroom walls were wired for surround sound I would have gone that route, but since they weren't, this was the BEST alternative I could find and am very happy with the results!
