Cons: Tiny knobs, overly-long ignition time
I bought this item about 4 months back for my new kitchen. It looks good and, considering the price, I expected it to work very well for a long time.
My mistake was not actually tying it out first.
Honestly, I would have NEVER bought this item had I done that.
Why?
In order to ignite the flame, one must rotate the knob to its low-flame position which is located at the extreme left rotation. The human wrist does not function that way. Consequently, this cannot be done comfortably and it sometimes hurts.
Making matters worse is the very small size of each knob.
Go and see the difference it makes turning a small knob as opposed to a larger one. It is so much more comfortable using a larger size. Human fingers work better when they can actually grip the device.
But, you say, why such a fuss over this?
Well, after four months of sporadic use of the large center burner, the thing clicks and clicks and clicks before the flame ignites. By then my island area wreaks of gas. As you await the ignition of the flame, you have plenty of time to curse the damned thing and realize function is euqally as important as style.
And, no, I did not spill liquid or other matter into the ignition area. It simply does not work well!
So, if you're in love with the design, think again and save yourself the aggravation. I learned the hard way, you don't have to.
Take care. ...

Pros: Price, Convenience
Cons: None
Very nice cook top for the price, particularly since I found it in near new condition for $440. With regard to the igniting thing, it does it the same way as my old Dacor cooktop - push down and to the left until it ignites. However, because this cook top is equipped with the safety thermocouples or Smartflame you need to start the knob pushed down from the getgo and hold it down a bit longer for it to stay lit. As far as I can tell, the smaller knobs give you more grid space. And oh yea, the continuous grids across the burners is really nice. I would have preferred a slide in with the knobs in front, but that would have been a whole lot more and a lot more work. Overall, I am very pleased! ...
