This collection centers on the prolific John Lee Hooker's recordings for Vee Jay Records, and is actually a standalone version of the ninth disc from Portrait, Past Perfect's massive tendisc box set retrospective of his career. Some of this material is as smooth as Hooker ever got (relatively speaking, of course).
