International superstar Chan (RUMBLE IN THE BRONX) strikes again with an effervescent, screwball comedy that combines a sweet romantic plot with his trademark action sequences and wit. When hopeless romantic Ah Bu (uber-pixie Shu - SEX AND ZEN II) finds a glass bottle with a love letter stuffed inside it, she decides to leave her provincial fishing village in Taiwan for Hong Kong in search of its author. However, when she catches up with her would-be Prince Charming (Leung - HAPPY TOGETHER), he admits that he's not exactly searching for a princess. Dismayed, Ah feels she'll never find love, but quickly changes her mind when she meets the millionaire playboy C.N. Chan (Chan). With her faith in romance restored, Ah unfurls an outrageous plan to win his undivided affection.

If you are a fan of Jackie Chan movies for whatever reason, watch this one. As far as fights go, it delivers. There are a couple of Jackie vs. Group fights, but the important ones are the two one-on-one fights between Jackie Chan and Brad Allan. One ...word describes them: unbelievable. Both Jackie Chan and Brad Allan are lightning-quick and display very good technique. The movie has a romantic quality to it, and I think it was originally intended to be just a romantic comedy. It's good seeing Jackie Chan playing a part where he isn't an action hero but just a guy. His love interest is played by Hsu Chi (Shu Qi), who makes the movie live up to its name. And unlike most of Jackie's films, this one really has no bad guys. Rivals, but not enemies. It makes the movie less intense, but lets you just sit back and enjoy everything else that a Jackie Chan movie has to offer. But get the DVD, because it is subtitled rather than dubbed over, preserving the actually good acting. Read more Less
