A minor figure best-known for his association with Charles Mingus in the early '70s, Bobby Jones was a talented tenor saxophonist with a versatile style. He struggled in the musical minor leagues for a long time, playing with the Glenn Miller ghost band (1959), a few months with Woody Herman (1963), and for a short while, clarinet with Jack Teagarden. Jones played well with Mingus (1970-1972) and recorded albums as a leader for Cobblestone (1972) and Enja (1974), doubling on tenor and clarinet...
