A Mongtomery, Alabama soul group, Bobby Moore and the Rhythm Aces had a solid uptempo hit in 1967, "Searching For My Love," on Checker. Moore was a tenor saxophonist. He formed the group with lead vocalist Chico Jenkins, Larry Moore, Joe Frank, Clifford Laws, Marion Sledge, and John Baldwin, Jr. in the mid-'60s, and they later signed with Checker. They were unable to sustain their early success, but had two other singles issued by Checker in 1966 and 1967.
