Hasnt anyone noticed that The Greeting Song is the coolest damn song ever written??!!! Pretty good album, cant say no to stuff like Under the Bridge, Give it away, Suck my Kiss ect, but kinda OTT on songs like Sir Psycho Sexy. As i say, pretty good but Californication rox always...

I only had to listen to one song on this album to get addicted to it. Kick ass CD. They should make another album like Blood Sugar Sex Magik.

This album is full of some of the best pockets and grooves ever laid down. The musical form of nearly all the songs is well developed and meticulously perfected. I put this album in the top range of ¨must have¨ albums. The more you listen to it, the more you´ll like it. If you want to learn to play bass, this is some of Flea´s best work, and most of his grooves aren´t that technically impossible, but his time and feel are impecible. Check out how well the three instumentalists build on each other´s feel to create the most solid time you´ve ever heard. Five stars!!

The single greatest album ever made. The Chili Peppers are not on my Label, not my favorite band, nor even in my favorite genre, but this record is the climax of music. Though produced over 12 years ago, I still can not let this title out of my sight. I still listen to it as often as a southern rock fan listens to Freebird. I just cant give it appropriate praise. You can really tell this album was recorded in a haunted house because its spirit just will not die. If you do not own this then let me know, I will GIVE you my old two worn out cds. If you have not heard Blood Sugar Sex Magic then Buy it now right here and avoid my extreme sorrow for you. The Chilis have had John back for the last two records and they have been good, but I still have hope, that they can someday re-find the Magic! Heres to the Spirits!

this record was by far their best, i think its when they mixed the funk with their deep meaningful lyrics and it worked beutifully.
but i think if they tried it again it wouldnt be as great because theyd just be doing wat other ppl wanted them to do.

Between BSSM and Cali and By The Way...of course but one thing is constant....this is the Peppers. I think this album is great, if I spent all the time you guys speak of comparing it to every other album I'd never have the time to enjoy it. You people who want BSSM over and over really need to open up a little more for instance...did you buy John Frusciante's solo album "To Record Only Water For 10 Days"? If not maybe you should, it's like a prologue to this album. BSSM is a great album...YES but to say that they will never top it is close minded.

My favorite album of all time. any one who likes music should like this album. By far better than their more recent attempts (californication, By the Way). This Album pumps through your veins and does not stop (as long as you put the cd on repeat). the one flaw I find in this cd is the rather annoying closing track red hot minute which is the only track not written by the peppers. They truly are music geniuses and this album is the testament to that.

Those buying all that rap/metal records should pay respect to these guys, they paved the wave for korn and limp bizkit. this album is pretty love, over 70 minutes but every song rocks. they lyrics are excellent. this one of their most focus albums every. they truely shine on this one

...this isn't rap-rock. Whoever said that is retarded. This is a funk fried, hot sh*t, do it like you mean it or get out of the way influential rock cd. Keadis' vocals jump and pull and twist and turn and rip at you head, heart, and groin. This album is one of them. One of the different, unique, and balls-out transforming the list of what it means to rock, roll, and scream. They did it right. This is the album that made the RHCP who they are today. It was their transformation from kid-punk-skate-or-die era, into creative intricacy known only by a couple of handful of bands...ever. One of the 50 greatest albums EVER MADE.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers did an excellent job on this album. This band has a great talent of putting songs together. Many bands are very cookie-cutter and just make the same songs and use the same guitar chords for every song on every album. RHCP, however, make each song unique and different from all other ones. Every band member did a very suberb job on this album. The song-writing is among the best out there. In my opinion, RHCP are one of the greatest bands in history and I think that this particular album deserves to be among the greatest albums ever.

In an era when grunge (whatever the fuc(n)k that ever was), dominated throughout my generational youth,(such a pity) this album has stood the test of time. Pitch black and never apologetic in nature, but with some smooth grooves brotha',either you love it or you hate it. Another definitive album from the rather forgettable 90's. Soundgarden's SUPERUNKNOWN being the other.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik seems to be sort of a deparure for the Chili Peppers. They were still had the same funky sound as they did in the eighties with some songs on this album; (like If you Have to Ask, Give it Away, Naked In The Rain, etc) but they also have some fast paced rock(Suck My Kiss, The Greeting Song, My Lovely Man, etc.) some more mellow songs(Under the Bridge, Breaking the Girl, I Could have Lied, etc.)

Californication doesn't compare to this ....even thou its the second best....with Breaking of Girl and Under the Bridge it tops everything and is one of the greatest albums of all time ! Next to Pearl Jam "ten"

What can i say? Excellent album, no review can do it justice, like all of their albums, it is different from the rest. If you like music, you'll love this. John Frusciante couldn't get any funkier, and what about that voice?! Melts me every time.

I love the musicainship of the band. I love this whole album. I know it must have been impossible for them to strecth this album out to 17 tracks in total. This album has no fillers except for the last song.
Anthony Keidis is one of the greatest songwriters of this generation and flea is one of the greatest bass players in rock music. I also love the combination of styles. This album is full of funk, rock, punk, and soft songs. If you dont fall in love with this album than you dont no what good music is. Got something for everyone. Dig the funk of Mellowship, or chill with the soft
