If I was just rating this movie, I'g give at least 4 stars without question- but I'm not. After waiting 6 months anticipating this release on DVD, I cannot believe what we were given.You'd have to figure that a modern day war epic would be exactly wh...y DVD was created in the 1st place, as anyone who has seen the attack scene in Pearl Harbor in surround sound can testify to. The Black Hawk Down DVD isn't even in Dolby Digital or DTS!! Sure you'll get surround sound out of your 5 or 6 speakers, but the Dolby quality is obviously missing.As for extra features, don't get your hopes up. There is ONE little featurette on the making, ONE! From what I've read, the production company was just in a hurry to get this out and will be coming out with a Special Edition in a few more months. Which sucks, because if you love this movie and have seen it in the theater, buy this DVD and be disappointed, so you HAVE to buy the Special Edition when it comes out (at no less than 25 bucks I'm sure), you'll have spent well over 50 bucks on this movie! I watched this movie not knowing a thing about what took place at the Bakharra market and outlying country side of Mogadish Somalia on October 3, 1993. Partly because I was still a very young child and thus ignorant to worldly matters. This movie ope...ned a door way for more information to go in. It was well done I would say. Some of the stuff portrayed in the movie were obviously added by Hollywood, but it still has some historic key points; points I would later find after a few years of grueling research. I wanted to know for the most part, what really happened, whats going on now, and why it was a major concern to America. I recommend the book Black hawk Down by Mark Bowden aswell. Read the book first, that way you will understand the movie a bit more and see where and why I would not however show the movie for a lesson on what happened in a history class. Read more Less
